julikins
Hi guys, I'm looking for two lists--one for readers and one for read-alouds for k-6th or 8th. I have been scouring the threads for read-aloud threads and found tons of wonderful suggestions but I keep hearing about different lists that others have already compiled. I saw some links to Satorismiles website but couldn't download the list, does anyone have that list or something similar. I've also downloaded CCE's 1000 Good Books list. Anyone else? Thanks, Julie
Jay3fer
I'd recommend checking The Read-Aloud Handbook out of a local library and pulling together a list of its must-reads. It's great, with lots of moral support as well, for those (like me) to whom extended reading-aloud does NOT come naturally...
Farrar
Angela (Satori) made a nice list awhile back.
pitterpatter
Not to hijack, but I would love to find a list that breaks things down a bit. I would like to start with shorter books that have more (or some) pictures, then progress to longer books without pictures. My DD is not real good about wanting to stop after a chapter or two. We're tried this with some shorter chapter books, but we end up reading the whole thing at once. :tongue_smilie: We have tons of picture books, but I'm looking for classics. hellen
I love Books Kids Will Sit Still For. There have been several updates with the older ones selling cheaply on Amazon. It lists the best books written within a certain time span. Each entry has a synopsis, age range, teaching/discussion points, and related titles. There is also a wonderful appendix so it is easy to find books in a certain category. The books listed range from pk - 6th grade. Sorry but I can't do a link. I can't figure out how to do it on my phone.
khall
We use the Sonlight catalogue as a reading list, and each core has separate lists for readers & read alouds.
