In2why
Any suggestions? I got a kindle for Christmas and looking in the kindle store I didn't really see anything but college books. I must be doing something wrong.
DawnM
Click on the "start shopping" icon at the bottom of that page. It will show you which books are eligible. The categories will then be to the left hand side. You can also type in topics. I found a few on Asperger's that might be good for me. Hunter's Moon
How do you find the list of eligible texts? I think you just have to search for texts you want and then on the page, it'll have a section saying it is eligible for the e-textbook promotion. Not really easy if you don't have anything specific in mind, though :glare: ETA: Just read Dawn's post. DawnM
It says it applies to rentals as well. The book I want (Autism and Creativity) is offered for rent for $10, so it would be free. However, I need to know how a rental works. How long can I keep the book to read? Does anyone know? Thanks, Dawn
LolaT
This sounds great but I haven't been able to find any primary level books. Here's a link to the Kindle e-book Textbooks. There are category links on the left side bar. http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Textbooks/b/ref=amb_link_355831402_41?ie=UTF8&node=2223210011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=left-1&pf_rd_r=0ZDC348K7W2XQYP1NXCC&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1341727342&pf_rd_i=1286228011
SunD
I wanted to post a few options I thought the ladies (or gentlemen) here might be interested in. Mostly for you, not for the kids, or maybe suitable for high school. These are just in the order I found them, mostly history, some math, a few grammar/composition. Her Story: Women in Christian Tradition The Writer's Harbrace Handbook, 5th Edition (pre-order for 1/1/12) Atoms and Alchemy: Chymistry and the Experimental Origins of the Scientific Revolution The Essential Naturalist: Timeless Readings in Natural History Pacific Skies: American Fliers in World War II Lost Plantations of the South Dictionary of Louisiana French Grammar Workbook for the ACT, SAT, and More Master Math: Basic Math and Pre-Algebra A Nation Transformed by Information: How Information Has Shaped the US from Colonial Times to Present The Test of War: Inside Britain from 1939-45 Motivation for Achievement: Possibilities for Teaching and Learning (rent) Master Math: Solving Word Problems Master Math: Calculus Master Math: Pre-Calculus Master Math: Geometry Master Math: Trigonometry Master Math: AP Statistics

Jay3fer
I think you have to view all e-textbooks, choose the one you want and see if it says, "Kindle e-Textbook Promotion This book qualifies for Kindle e-textbook promotions. If you’ve applied a valid promotion code to your account, the dollar amount of your code will be automatically applied when you buy this book with 1-click (promotions also apply on 1-click rental orders when a rental option is available)." Disappointed - I wish this applied to more than just boring old overpriced mainstream-publisher college texts... :-( ETA: On the other hand, there seem to be quite a few items <$10 on the bestseller textbook list, so hopefully, you can find 1-2 useful items to spend that $10! Kathleen in LV
Thank you very much to the OP & to SunD for the good list of "freebies". I picked up the Master Math statistics book. My husband also picked up something for his Kindle -- A History of the Federal Reserve -- for less than a dollar. All in all, quite a great deal!
