I showered today. (Hey, I told my DH last night that I wasn't getting out of my pajamas until January 3rd, so this is a major accomplishment!)

I'm printing off some stuff for our new science program.

I put away our Christmas dishes.

I threw away, ate or froze the rest of the Christmas goodies. (The 'ate' part is why I have to get up and work out in the morning!)

I made a list of Thank You cards we must write.

I threw out the two sad looking poinsettias. (Now I realize I should have saved one for science. :glare:)

Low expectations for today = I actually am ahead of the game. :D

You are a step ahead of me there lol I decided there was no point in showering to go clean out closets etc and so planned to have a long soak in the tub tonight. But that means no shower yet today, :D It is a good accomplishment

Go salvage 1 pointsettia from the trash if you can, it can still be good for science. ;)

I like your thinking about the low expectations

Had a "filing party" with my kids and filed basically a year's worth of bills and other paperwork.

Have folded and put away a couple of loads of laundry

Cleaned up after Libby who has been throwing up lately. (I think it is a medicine she's getting. We're making a change as of today.)

We're working on thank you notes - a couple every day until they are done.

Yesterday I got dd's room tidied, the Christmas presents put away and the lounge room vacuumed. I finished reading my book and showered. I'm there with you Suzanne :cheers2: Not too bad for a sleep deprived woman.

The even more sleep deprived woman's plans for today were to do school (which we've just done and I've figured out how much I need to whittle it down to achieve the speech therapy aims without over taxing ourselves.) Uh, dh is about to take the kids out, so I'll use that time to scrub the floors. Don't you just love "me time?" Then I'll shower (two days in a row! What a winner!) :p and go to the chiropractor. Tonight I plan to sleep fantastically until 8am, with no little people waking me up at any time.

Assuming that sleeping plan comes to fruition and I do indeed wake up feeling fabulous, I shall erode Mr Dishmore and while dh takes the kids out, I shall work on prettifying ds' quilt. I got enough done that it wasn't full of pins when I gave it to him, but it isn't finished.

I have plans to spend some "me time" actually having me time before dh goes back to work, but who knows if that will happen. If it does, it will see me cutting out some beautiful felt I bought from the Waldorf shop last week, to start some Christmas decorations. I need to know how much felt I'll have left to make the doll house dolls my mother decided not to make for dd for Christmas after all. :glare: And I have only three more days to finish off my knitting challenge for the year! Ugh. My me time sounds almost as much work as my not me time.

Ah well. If showering is classed as an accomplishment, I shall be able to feel good about myself today, whatever happens.

I ate half a bag of Lindor dark chocolate peppermint truffles. Oh, you probably don't mean that kind of accomplishment.

I showered, did 2 loads of laundry, made fettucine Alfredo for dinner, kept the fire going in the woodstove, and gave two haircuts.

I love my woodstove.

Oh my that is an accomplishment. Even more of one is that it didn't leave you feeling sick lol

I wish I had a wood stove here, though knowing my son he would burn my house down with it, but I have always wanted one.

I have been watching Hoarders on my Kindle Fire and it inspires me to organize. I am cleaning off the island in the kitchen and it WILL remain clutter free from here out. I am also going to tear apart the walk-in pantry and give it a thorough going over. I did get 4 loads of laundry done but that is normal for me. Classroom reorganization is next on my list.

I showered and made it out of my pajamas by 2pm today! I am pretty much caught up on laundry though (including the wet, nasty mess that my husband brought home today from his backpacking trip). I've spent the past two days at home, chilling with the kids and being intentional in playing with all their new Christmas toys with them.

I think my biggest accomplishment today was making a list of what I need to do for the remainder of the week. Well, in reality, there's way too much stuff on the list to possibly finish it all in one week....so it may take me until mid-January! But, it's a start!

I did manage to write out the majority of our bills for January and work on our budget. I'm hoping to finish our January menu this evening and will work on my grocery list/organizing my coupons tomorrow.

i find Hoarders EXTREMELY motivating. :tongue_smilie:

All the Christmas gifts and decorations are put away, the house is tidied, the laundry is done, and I had a long bath. I also made sure everything was ready to start school back on Monday. Tomorrow we clean - it doesn't take but an hour so with everyone pitching in, then we are planning to go for a hike.

My 14yo cooked dinner so Dh and I could finish putting Christmas things away, so I had a nice steak and mashed potato dinner I didn't even have to cook.

Some of our family in Florida sent us a box of Omaha Steaks. Yum!

Excellent thread! :D

  • I reorganized dining room/school room closets.
  • Made a "Party" bin - disposable cups, napkins, plates etc., candles, goody bags, birthday banners... Everything is in one place and not in a thousand little bags, shoved in the back of the cupboard. :glare:
  • Put away Christmas decorations (not by choice- my youngest wrestled down the tree)
  • Washed 5 loads of laundry, folded and PUT IT AWAY! :D
  • Shopped at Costco and was very glad I'm not returning anything. The line was looooong.

Great thread!

--Got all the laundry washed, folded, and put away (except for the ironing, of course)

--Got an appreciation gift delivered

--Got an upcoming birthday present purchased early, wrapped, and ready to be delivered

--Got a stack of papers taken care of (filed, trashed, typed up - whatever each needed)

--Used up all the leftovers to make a good dinner (refusing to think about the fact that dinner will come around again tomorrow - and it'll have to be from scratch . . .)

--Got all the recycled Christmas wrap put away (ds is big into not wasting the wrap, the bows, the ribbons, even the gift tags - if it's a nice piece of wrap yet, then it has to be folded and put with our wrapping supplies to be reused for many more years :D - ya gotta appreciate his recycling mentality and frugality . . .:) )

--got one big stack of stuff organized :):):)

That's all I can think of right now - but putting it in writing makes me feel like I actually did accomplish something - just when I was feeling like it had been a wasted day . . .

Thanks again for this thread!

Not really something that I have actively done but I just found out that I get to direct one of my dream musicals next year at a local community theatre. I am an actor/director at heart but that has all been put on hold for child/work commitments for the past 10 years. I feel like I am finally getting that missing piece of myself back.

On the home front, I have done some planning for school both the rest of this year and putting some things on wish list for next year. My brain never stops working there.

I managed to complete all but 2 items on my to do list today, all while battling a migraine and talking to my big kids on the phone. Since posting this thread, I managed to finish culling and cleaning the girl's room, cleaning the hallway, dropped another load of stuff in the goodwill bins, cleaned the bathroom, did 2 loads of laundry, wheeled the garbage can out to the curb and made tomorrow's to do list. Not bad at all I say :D
