DawnM
DH opened his own Amazon account (he got a discount bonus thing for doing it) but he had to spend $100 to get his discount, so he did. He ordered about a week ago and our stuff still isn't here. I ordered stuff from my account the same day and we had it within 2 days. Even if I have to pay, I will be keeping Prime! Right now I have it for free. Dawn
kfeusse
I am being spoiled right now by amazon prime too....if I decide to keep it, I figured its only about $7 per month....that's not too bad...unless I start making way too many impulse buys...then I will have to stop getting prime. But it is certainly faster and more reliable.
DawnM
I was offered half price membership if I wanted to purchase. I don't know if that is ongoing or if it is just a one time offer. tabrizia
Not sure about free prime, but with paid prime you can have up to 4 or 5 other accounts share it. So DH's account shares my prime membership, makes life nice and everything ships so nice and fast. It is a really nice benefit that I am pretty sure a lot of people don't know about. Iucounu
Yep, wife and I are on the same Prime membership and we use it tons. It's not just the fast shipping that we find valuable, it's getting free shipping on orders under $25, which makes it much easier to just order a small item in a snap and know it will arrive very soon. It's happened to us many times that an item sent with two-day shipping arrives in one, and we've been glad to have the $4 next-day shipping available as an option in some cases. DawnM
good to know about the prime sharing. my guess is that we will only use his account for this particular deal and won't use it again. we just share an amazon account for the most part. Serenade
I've always paid for Prime, and it has been well worth it. I've had a Prime account for maybe 5 years now, since long before they offered free ones and I never regretted it. I was hesitant to join, but once I started using it, I was hooked. Night Elf
I love, love, love Amazon Prime! We live in a small town with limited shopping options, so I use it all the time. School books, movies, birthday presents, games, you name it. The quick shipping, no sales tax (no shipping hub in my state), discounted pricing, and simple EASE of use are well worth the once a year membership fee. Our fee is due in March and I usually pay it out of the school budget/funds. :) :iagree: I buy lots of stuff at Amazon because I can get it faster than waiting for a chance to leave the house! I don't like going out on school days because our entire schedule gets thrown off and I don't usually go out in the evenings because I'm just not in the mood. We do our shopping on the weekend. So yeah, I get a package faster from Amazon than me getting to the local stores. :D
mirth
I liked AP, but will not pay $79/yr for it. I always got a bunch of separately mailed boxes for a single order, and most of the time my demand for the ordered product is just not that that urgent. A few days wait is fine. It was more of a way to get me to impulsively buy something because I did not the $25 minimum to meet. Whereas before and after Prime, stuff would sit around in the cart for several days while I mull it over or find other stuff.

No going to the store at all.
HappyLady
I have AP through Amazon Mom. If you sign up (if they're still doing it) you get it free for a year, plus discounts on a lot of stuff. My DH and I have decided that once my year is up we're going to keep it. KS_
I paid for Prime this year (I'll have to renew early 2012) and it has been so worth it. I don't have to try to find stuff to fill an order to make it $25 (so saving some money there) and we have been enjoying the free streaming. The kids have loved watching the old Dick Van Dyke show and we've been working our way through the BBC version of Robin Hood. And it really helped out when my parents were several states away for a funeral and had to inventory the house (my grandma died) and needed a video camera and memory cards. I was able to find one they wanted and have it shipped next day to where they were so they didn't have to spend hours shopping around town for it. OrganicAnn
We have a free trial and I think my DH is going to keep it. I've been trying to use the free streaming as much as possible, so that we get our money's worth. I wish there were more stuff available (like Hulu plus), but I'll enjoy it while I can.
