Lawana
Anyone have a 32" flat screen TV recommendation? My mother just told me she will buy us one for Christmas, but I'm clueless. Thanks!
Truscifi
I can tell you not to buy a Sceptre. It is an off brand that has a terrible record with the inverter board going out, causing the backlights to shut off right after you turn the tv on. Ask me how I know. :glare: BTW, if anyone knows where to get a replacement inverter board, please let me know. ;)
mamato3 all-boy boys
I was listening to Kim Komando (national computer/ tech radio show host)on the radio this weekend and her advice was to get the highest hertz you can afford -- not the 60 Hz TVs that are being sold so cheaply this Christmas. Oh, and higher resolution -- like 1080. All of this makes no sense to me, so here is her site: Here is her site: Komando.com/HDTVs

gardenmom5
I have a 42" vizio we got at costco last spring that we've been happy with. yes, 1080p if you want to watch blu-ray. (and almost any flat screen nowadays has it.)

Mergath
If you're going to get an LED or LCD tv, I'd do some research on the "soap opera effect" and make sure the tv you decide on has the option to fix that. My mom has a 42" LED tv, and watching movies on it is really weird, like watching something that someone filmed with a handheld camera in their backyard. Also, if you watch a lot of Netflix, you should look into getting a tv with built-in wifi.
nukeswife
We have both a 32 and a 46" Sony LCD tvs and love them both. Never had any issues at all with any of our Sony products.

A 120Hz apparently gives much better motion than the 60Hz. Thank you for responding.:001_smile: We have both a 32 and a 46" Sony LCD tvs and love them both. Perogi
I don't know a lot about the different numbers but we recently bought and went with a plasma. I wouldn't do LCD, I wanted to do LED but couldn't afford and found a great deal on a plasma so went with that. Plasma has a really great picture but there is more glare on the screen. The room we were using it in that wasn't a big concern but it might be for you if you have big windows or a bright overhead light. I love that no matter where someone is sitting in the room the picture looks good so we didn't have to put our TV front and centre. I can sit in the chair that is virtually beside the TV (just the fireplace in between) and still enjoy watching.

By Grace
Definitely get one with wifi that will stream online content. If you have Amazon Prime or Netflix, you'll be able to stream that content directly through your TV without needing Apple TV or Roku or something (though I do love my Roku!). I think Vizio and maybe Sony typically have the streaming capability, but check the feature list for each to be sure.
Sandy in Indy
I have two LG flat screen LED tvs and love both of them. One has a shiny screen and one has a mat screen which doesn't glare nearly as much. 120 hz is the minimum I would go for...one of mine is 240 hz, and I can really tell the difference. 1080 resolution is a must. Plasma is a great choice but do be sure it's 1080 and not 720 resolution.

Features we would use, at a moderate price point. I'm so glad I asked, because I had no idea about such things before. The hive really does know everything.
