diaperjoys
My son completed CLE's Learning to Read program this week, and I just tested his reading level - he scores nearly 5th grade level. What's next?? Lots of good books, and what else??
boscopup
Lots of good books. :) Spelling? My 7 year old reads at a high level. I just give him good literature and focus on spelling. He doesn't need "reading instruction" anymore until we get to lit analysis (will start that around 4th grade probably... though we sometimes talk a little bit about such things now in a casual manner). Bloggermom
Wow! Is that the only reading instruction he has had? I ask because my son is doing CLE LTR and now I am wondering what his reading level is.
MIch elle
CLE reading is an excellent reading program all the way to grade 8 (that's what we've used). And yes, good books too!
SpreadingtheFeast
How did you test his reading level? I'm aksing because according to the test Sonlight has on their website my son reads at a Grade 6 level but for him Grade 2 CLE Readers are quite challenging. Have you tried any of their other readers? We've finished LTR as well, but used Word Mastery after that, which gave a whole lot more challenge than LTR. We're now using CLE Readers for the challenging words and Pathway Readers to increase the speed of his reading.
amazzie
Wow! He must be a natural reader. After finishing LTR, my son struggled to read on a first grade level...I actually couldn't continue on with CLE Reading 1 with him because it was too much. So, anyway, it's great that your son is doing so well!
