Impish
I don't remember any mention of what ever happened to Carrie Ingalls. Anyone know?
Mothersweets
I think she ended up marrying a newspaper man and moving to a different part of South Dakota. She didn't have any children. Sorry, that's all I can remember offhand.
PrincessMommy
Wikipedia has a write up about her: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrie_Ingalls it even has a picture.
Catwoman
She became a stripper and got her own reality show on TLC? OK, maybe that wasn't her... :tongue_smilie:
Mothersweets
Here's a good site with lots of info about the family: http://www.liwfrontiergirl.com/ tee hee, Cat!
milovany
She didn't have any children. None of the other Ingalls girls had any kids, and Rose Wilder Lane didn't either, so I find it somewhat sad (not pity-sad, but just kinda melancholy-sad) that there was only one grandchild (that lived past childhood) and no great grand kids for Charles and Caroline. I just always found it sad that America's most famous pioneer family had no direct descendants.
Chris in VA
I've heard it was connected to the starvation they went thru. I always wondered what the COD was for Ma's son and Laura's.

I bet it was the starvation they endured....and I always assumed the babies died of SIDS.
Mothersweets
I thought Frederick died of an illness - pneumonia? measles? something like that. With Almanzo and Laura's baby boy, I believe he died a few days after birth. My guess is that his death was related to rh incompatibility. Just a guess, though. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
kalanamak
I bet it was the starvation they endured....and I always assumed the babies died of SIDS. I read the baby was sickly all along, and one "horrible day" he just stretched out and died. Could have been a congenital heart defect. Not that uncommon. I remember her mentioning in one of her books that Carrie never really recovered from the long winter and was rather sickly.
Sara R
Wikipedia says she didn't marry until age 41, which would explain the no-kids thing.
