HappyLady
Has anyone used this book/curriculum? If so, what did you think? I purchased the book for kindergarten and it seems like it's pretty thorough when you supplement with their suggestions. I'm just leary because the book was only $20 and other kindergarten curricula I've looked at is around $400. :glare: Can this really be all I need? Any opinions from anyone who has used it? higginszoo
I used it for my second for K. I was adding in (she was listening in with her brother), but it did an adequate job of covering the bases, and she seemed to enjoy it. With a complicated pregnancy/delivery/high need baby and a first grader and 3/4 year old along with my kindergartener, I needed an easy button, and this was a good option. keyjoh62080
Yes, it really can be all you need. I used it for my kindergartner last year with the supplements that they suggested and it was a great year. I wish I hadn't complicated things this year by switching :glare:
AHASRADA
I used it a couple of different years for each dc. It really is a great resource. What I love about it, is that you can feel that you are "covering all the bases", and whatever you manage to add to it is gravy. In the younger years (K/1), it will keep you from investing in individual curricula for every subject, when it might well not be necessary. It's a great place to start, and when you're a few weeks in, you can always add anything you feel is missing or weak, once you know how much time you have left over for supplementing. While "social studies" is included, I personally would probably add SOTW for a good history sequence, and probably a phonics program early on. It's an excellent investment, IMHO. 9763653
I own K, 1, and 2. I thought it was great for K - it gave us a place to start, and something to do every day. I liked the price, too :D. For first grade, it really is not sufficient - or rather, it covers too much without being thorough. The LA does too much with too little explanation, the math section encourages counting rather than adding (not officially, but through the pictures). We started the year off "supplementing" Learn At Home, one subject at the time, and now we are not using it at all.
