Guest Bittersnow
Hello! I'm new here and probably don't belong here as I don't even have a child. (I'm just curious as to what is available when I do have one) I'm an American with a Norwegian spouse, living in Norway. If there are any Norwegians on here I was wondering if you do know of any bilingual schools or immersion schools? I was wondering also if it's worth me teaching my future hypothetical child English while my HB speaks Norwegian considering how good most Norwegian's speak English? My home languages as a kid were Spanish and Russian and I learned English by going to, well, a typical school. I would like to speak either Spanish or Russian I suppose. Sorry if this post was uncalled for. My parents really didn't have a plan for me at all and I would like to know what is available.
Rosie_0801
Welcome to the board :) I couldn't tell you anything about schooling in Norway, being a homeschooler in Australia :p but you might enjoy reading this book. :) Rosie
stripe
I read an article in Multilingual Living. (back when it was a magazine) and th author talked about how she realized she never said, "I love you" to her kids in her native language. I think its nice to share your language with your kids,so they can get insight into your heart, but there are practical considerations too. If I were in your shoes, I would let them learn English at school, I think.
Aquinas Academy
I don't know anything about bilingual schools in Norway, but I wanted to say, "Hei!" because I love all things Norwegian. :)
