Mom-ninja.
Book Share is free and Learning Ally has started to charge. Other than that what are the major differences? My head is spinning looking at the sites. I'm trying to decide which to get. This would be for my almost 11 yr old and my dh would use it as well. RamonaQ
Learning ally has the text read by a volunteer human. Bookshare is electronic text that you can have read to you by a computer synthesized voice (Text to Speech). With Bookshare you also get the actual text that allows one to read along or interact with the text by highlighting..etc..(depending on your software). DawnM
Can you get either of these without a diagnosis? I have just found out about Learning Ally but was told I will need an official diagnosis and access to it before purchasing. Thanks, Dawn

Thanks, Dawn Both of these programs require a person to have a diagnosis of a disability that affects their ability to access information in print. A professional with the appropriate qualifications must certify that disability before access can be obtained. Both websites have detailed information about what is required.
