MamaAkins
Welcome back to the Lodge! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It's Monday again! How was your weekend? What did you do? What's on your agenda for today? What's on the menu today? What's the weather like where you live? Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? :bigear:
Jean in Newcastle
Welcome back to the Lodge! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It's Monday again! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? What did you do? We are still visiting family far from home. My dad turned 90 and my dd turned 10 on the same day! What's on your agenda for today? Today we're driving 1 and a half hours to visit with one of my sisters. What's on the menu today? Whatever they serve me.;) What's the weather like where you live? Live - in the 40's. Here where we're visiting, it has ranged from the 20's to the 30's. Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? In the past we've baked holiday cookies for our neighbors but I'm not sure we'll do that this year. We do like to read a special book about candy canes and bake some candy cane cookies. I can't give you the recipe though because our book is thousands of miles away at home.
Karen in CO
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? What did you do? I had a fabulous weekend! My younger dd tested for her black belt in Judo - and got it. She took her first written test ever and got a 100 from someone besides me. Then on Sunday, she had her recital in tap class. She's the only one in her class this session so she did a SOLO onstage in front of a packed high school auditorium. She was terrific. And as if that wasn't enough good things for a weekend, my oldest came home from college for Christmas! What's on your agenda for today? Today is work, cello, tap, and youngest is making an "About ME" poster for her enrichment school. DS also needs to go to the doctor. He still has a cough from when he was sick last month. What's on the menu today? Tonight, I'm making roasted winter squash and arugula quinoa. What's the weather like where you live? Supposed to be 40 and sunny today which is nice. Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? I don't bake ahead. We spend a good portion of the holiday break skiing so some oatmeal peanut butter cookies for the car trips are about as elaborate as we get. The ski lodge makes a terrific barbecue sandwich which is our new traditional Christmas dinner. :D
scrapbookbuzz
You are all up early this morning! Our weekend was BUSY! DD13's performances were this weekend. She was in a production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. DS and DH went to her performance on Friday night; I wasn't feeling well. I went to see it Saturday afternoon. Then Saturday night she and dh went on a daddy/daughter date to a dinner theatre (my Christmas present to them), and ds7 and I had a mother/son date. Sunday was church and by that afternoon I was TIRED! No school today, except for some reading and read alouds because today is "recuperation day". :^) Tomorrow through Friday we will wrap up our Sonlight cores so we can start new cores in January. Next week will be a flurry of finishing up handmade Christmas presents. :D Weather today is overcast with possibility of rain. Makes me wish I lived about 1000ft higher in elevation. Then we would have SNOW.
Wendi
Welcome back to the Lodge! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It's Monday again! How was your weekend? What did you do? Not too bad. I'm still getting over this respiratory virus, so I didn't get the tree up yet. Got a few Christmas gifts Saturday. Church on Sunday. What's on your agenda for today? DS is at his science class right now, then we both volunteer at the "cafe" at his co-op, then home to do history, English, and math. What's on the menu today? I won't figure that out for several hours. :D What's the weather like where you live? Windy, rainy, and chilly. Looks like one of those days when it gets colder as the day goes on. That reminds me: we need fire logs! Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? I'm not sure. We usually just make decorated sugar cookies. We were going to make these last year, but we never got around to it; hopefully, this year it will happen. :bigear: Thanks for letting me join you! elise1mds
How was your weekend? What did you do? The weekend was pretty good! Friday night we went to the Christmas Train, which the kids loved while I tried not to freeze to death. On Saturday my husband got a wild hair and decided we needed to make a 1.75-hour drive (each way) to get more of his 'special' Christmas lights to finish wrapping the tree in the front yard. Mostly he wanted to eat at a certain restaurant that was more or less on the way. So we did that. On Sunday my MIL dropped by for 30 minutes, promptly confused my children by telling them that her separation from her DH was due to her mental illness (it isn't, though it certainly doesn't help... neither of them are good for one another and there's a really long, ugly back story to it, too) and then left again before spending enough time for either child to feel loved. *sigh* What's on your agenda for today? We're leaving for an ornament exchange here in a while. DS needs to make his bed before we go. I need to sort out the recycling and get the paper bagged up to take to DD's school. I need to haul all the stuff we cleaned out of DS' room to Goodwill. Then there are five loads of laundry, dishes, and heaven only knows what else awaiting me. School is on the side burner today! What's on the menu today? I'm not sure. Probably stew, if I go get the meat out before I leave. If not, it'll probably be corn chowder. What's the weather like where you live? Dreary, but not miserably cold. Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? I usually bake mini loaves of bread for everyone in the family, but I'm not doing it this year. It's too much. I'm trying to cut myself as much slack as possible; as it is, I still don't have gifts for two of my BILs and my FIL. DH won't help, which annoys me greatly since they are HIS family. Back to baking... I usually do banana/banana nut, cranberry/cranberry nut, and pumpkin. I might still do some cranberry nut bread for our family, but that'll be it. MaMa2005
How was your weekend? What did you do? Saturday was Lowe's Build and Grow Workshop - part 2 of a 3 part train. Saturday afternoon and evening was dinner with DS's best friends parents. Amazing that the kids get along and the husbands also get along. Makes for a wonderful night relaxing, having adult beverages and just chillin' with some great company. Sunday - UGH- helped DH finish grading all his final projects from the university. Pure drudgery, but we got it done :001_smile: What's on your agenda for today? Schooling hard today then TKD practice. What's on the menu today? Clean out the leftovers day! What's the weather like where you live? Overcast, grey, dreary, 45, chance of rain. Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? I make an old family recipe pound cake. Usually do a big day of baking and then hand the pound cakes out during the week. Hope everyone has a great week!
MamaAkins
How was your weekend? What did you do? We had a great, albeit exhausting, weekend! I won't even go into it, but I will say that it included all of the following...and then some...Operation Share, Christmas Parade, Christmas party, Christmas caroling, dinner club, sleepover, church, dance performance, having a friend over, more Christmas caroling, pizza party, youth group Christmas party, dinner date with hubby, and work. What's on your agenda for today? I'm taking a "catch up" day today to recuperate from the crazy weekend! My oldest is finishing up her English paper, science assignments, and working on Spanish homework. My younger 3 have mostly played and read today. I've done 5 loads of laundry (3 regular loads + sheets/blankets from 3 beds) and other housework that needed to get done. Our tree is up, but not decorated yet--hoping to get it done this afternoon. This evening, my dad is taking me shopping for a new refrigerator (His Christmas present to dh and I). Afterwards, I'm going to help him finish his Christmas shopping for the kids. What's on the menu today? I had not done a menu plan for this week, so it's a "fend for yourself" kind of day in the kitchen! The kids had waffles or pancakes for breakfast. I had an english muffin. For lunch, I had leftovers from last night's "date dinner" with dh. I have no idea what we're having for dinner tonight! ACK! What's the weather like where you live? Chilly and dismal here in NC today. Last week at this time, it was in the upper 70's. Today, it's cloudy and in the mid-40's. Do you do any special baking for the holidays? If so, what's your favorite thing to make? (And along those lines, could you share the recipe?) If you do baking for the holidays....do you bake ahead and freeze it or just bake it as you need it? I love to do holiday baking, although I think we will cut back a bit this year. I love making cookies.
