smilesonly
If your living room functions as your family room, too, how much/what kind of furniture do you have/need? ( two dc and two adults)
MHowell
We have all three here, and it's not unusual to have the kitchen chairs brought in here when company shows up.
greenvneck
We don't have enough for all of us to be comfortable. We have a large couch, armchair, and glider...with no room for anything else. Our house is large, but when we had it built we wanted a cozy living room. It was plenty cozy at that time, with only two kids, but with four? And the older two being 18yos? More cramped than cozy. ThisIsTheDay
My first priority would be that the furniture fit the room. When we had one room like this, we had a sofa and a loveseat (four people). We could have crammed a recliner chair in there, but then we would have had to smoosh up the dining room furniture to accommodate the family room. We also had the dining room as part of the "great" room, and along one side of that room were three barstools that pulled up to the kitchen counter. In2why
I like 2 matching couches and chairs. A loveseat is okay, but not as useful to me as another couch.
KungFuPanda
We have a sofa and two chairs. It's always been plenty.
Stayseeliz
We have a large sectional and a glider. 2 adults and 4 dc. The sectional has a couch, loveseat and chaise on it. We can all sit on the sectional comfortably. We loooove it!
Tap
I have a sofa and 2 arm chairs. A kid or two usually lay on the floor.
joannqn
We have a sofa and a love seat. It's NOT enough for four kids and two adults. We're buying each of the littles one of these club chairs from Big Lots for Christmas to help the situation.
Shellers
We have a sofa, loveseat, and two overstuffed chairs.
QueenCat
We have all three here, and it's not unusual to have the kitchen chairs brought in here when company shows up. Same here.... but in our last house, the recliner was a bit cramped. Works well in our current house.
