FlyingMOm
Does anyone know anything about University-Model school? I'd really love to hear pros, cons, etc. I've done a search but can't seem to find any threads. I have a friend who is considering pulling her son out of public school & enrolling him in a u-m school. She asked for my opinion since it is part-time homeschooling. I thought I'd check with the wise hive and see if anyone here has personal experience with u-m's before I call her back.
AnnaM
This is second hand experience but I have a close friend who gave one a try. She said it did not work for them. She felt like it was more work than just homeschooling and that they were being given alot of busy work. Between the extra school work and the added drive and other school related activities it overwhelmed them and they pulled the kids out within a few months. I imagine that some of this would vary from school to school but something to think about :) Hope that helps some.

julikins
Hi, again this is 2nd hand experience, but I've been exposed to two different of these schools, both of which I was really impressed with. If I lived near one, we would consider it. Both of them do classical education and the kids are very advanced as far as I can see. It does give the mom a break those days that the kids are in school, but is very busy with lots of schoolwork on the homeschool days. My friend is very busy, but she loves it and feels like her children are receiving an amazing education. It's expensive though, so she's often wondered if she could pull it off at home and save quite a bit of money. But at the same time loves the teachers and what they are inputting into the lives of her children. I don't know if that made sense at all, I'm sorry, I think it's getting close to bed time. Hope you can understand what I tried to say.:)
lmrich
We use one. I love it. There are several in our area, and I am so pleased with ours. The teachers are excellent, several are college professors or experts in their field. I know other schools that are very different and rely on parents to teach regardless of their background.
