Ann@thebeach
My 7th grader watched a series on Newton's Toybox with Science Jim and really enjoyed it. He wants to do more science like this. Any suggestions? It could be a live class we sign up for or a DVD/download that he watched. I'd still have him read a text or other books to go with it. I'd prefer biology right now but will take any suggestions! Whatever gets him excited about learning I want to take advantage of!
Kalmia
Brightstorm has free short video courses on biology, physics and chemistry. Some of the lectures (especially toward the end of the lists) are quite advanced, but many would be accessible to a 7th grader. http://www.brightstorm.com/science/biology/
Kalmia
Khan Academy has free biology lectures too: http://www.khanacademy.org/#biology
Ann@thebeach
Thanks, I will look into those and Khan has been on my list for a long time but wasn't sure if it was too advanced for him. Any complete semester courses out there?
KarenNC
I believe Science Jim does full online classes (not sure of cost---check out Currclick.com, as I think they have discounted options through Currclick Live). Homeschool Buyer's Co-op offers Plato Science, which is an online science course.
Ann@thebeach
Yes, I know Science Jim does whole classes because that's what we took. I don't see anything else like that scheduled though. Maybe there will be more in Jan. I'll check out the other one too.
foxbridgeacademy
I second the recommendation of Plato Science. Also Adaptive Curriculum is online.
Alison in KY
BJU has an online special of $99 for their distance learning classes. You could do their science, you'd just have to purchase the student book to go with it.
