Quick! Help please! On the common app., what is the "school's passing mark?"

It's the lowest score or percentage or grade you would consider "passing". I put "60%" on our form (2 years ago), to match my grading scale on the transcript, which was 90-100 A, 80-89 B, 70-79 C, 60-69 D, < 60 F, and to line up with most schools--where D is usually the lowest passing grade.

 

Of course, my ds had no D's on his transcript, and in practice I would never have let him get by with that low a score... and it was never an issue--his final grades were always very high. I just set up our official parameters to look as normal as possible.

 

Ds's application went to top schools and no one batted an eye at this.
