Plato Quote?

Recommended Posts

This one? (No Plato, but Greek)

In every tyrant's heart there springs in the end this poison, that he cannot trust a friend.

I believe there is a passage in Wheelock (mine is at work) entitled something like A Tyrant Can Trust No One. It is about the famous Tyrant of Syracuse.

No, it's in The Republic. Plato is talking about different kinds of rulers & different types of government.

Try here, and "find" tyrant. There are many pity quotes. Is it one of these?

Oh, shoot. I can tell it's the right section, but my brain's just not turned on enough to find it tonight. Thank you, though--I'll use this site when I'm awake. AND--I had no idea the find function worked online *at all.* You've rocked my world! :D
