Lara in Colo
I thought I was having a heart attack. A band of intense pain around by body right under my ribcage.
kfeusse
this is for my friend who is having back pain and she can't keep anything down. Everything she eats or drinks (other than water) she throws up. She just got a new job and is waiting for her insurance to kick in before she sees a doctor...I don't know why exactly, but she thinks it could be gall bladder or an ulcer. What do you guys think?? Lara in Colo
Gall bladder issues were "attacks" for me. Intense pain for about 1-2 hours, then nothing for a day or two. Then an attack. I'm sure it went in tandem with something I ate, but no, I had no problems keeping food down.
Woodhaven
Could be a gall stone. Or, could be flu. Gall stones are bad! My mother had those symptoms and nearly died from blockage in her small intestine by a gall stone. Nothing to fool with! She waited a week before going to the emergency room. My mom kept drinking liquids, but they went no-where. Her lungs started filling with liquid. She was drowning. Her vital organs began to shut down. She was put into a coma (medically induced) and on a ventillator. Surgery saved her life! I hope her insurance kicks in very soon!! She may not be able to wait long to see a doctor if it has to do with a stone. She might be able to wait out the flu. Sorry about the worst case story above. Reesegirl
sounds like gal bladder problems. I had attacks where I would be sick and couldn't keep anything down and then felt horrible for a a couple of days afterwards. And I had the band of pain around my rib cage. I didn't realize it was a gal bladder attack until I went to the ER with severe pain....I had thought it was food algergies to certain foods that would trigger it....onions and peppers. I had my gal bladder out 3 years ago.
Myeightkiddies
When I was pregnant with my 14-year-old, I had gall bladder problems. I described the back pain as "someone hitting me over the back with a baseball bat".
gardenmom5
What are some of the main symptoms of having gall bladder problems? Mine started out as constant/frequent nausea. I was a teen, and the dr kept asking me if I was pregnant. when I'd say no, I wasn't believed and nothing further was done. After 1dd was born, I started having violently painful abdominal pain that would come and go. I'd be up pacing at night. Again, I'd mention it to my dr, but I was told it was just "nursing cramps". I'd grown up with my own illnesses being brushed off by family, so I didn't push it. (I still felt stupid the last time I went to the ER. I was pregnant and bleeding, and diagnosed with pnuemonia.) Finally, the pain was so great, i actually started vomiting. by that time, dh had awoken and his RN mother was living with us, so he got her. She, of course, asked "where does it hurt?" sorry, can't talk. I was then taken to the ER. the stone had passed, so I was feeling better. tests were scheduled, and it was taken out. In2why
My daughter was just scheduled for a Hydra(sp) test on her gallbladder. Basically they are going to see if it functions properly in producing the right ammount of bile. She has had 4-5 episodes of extreme vomitting since July, once requiring the ER and an IV. The nausea lasts a couple of days, the pain is in the upper right area under her ribs and she throws up until there is nothing but bile and continues to vomit for about 24 hours. My mother on the other hand had a gallstone so large that she required surgery. She didn't have any warning or pain, until she thought she was having a heart attack. She described it as the worst pain she ever felt in her chest. So I think there is a difference between gall stones and a gall bladder issue? My sister is going through exactly that right now. She has not been able to keep much down since JULY. She finally found a doc that will take her gall bladder out in a couple of weeks. mchel210
I started with terrible back pain. They thought it was my kidneys. I got sharp pains under my ribs and pain after eating. It just got worse. Mine was inflammation that only showed with a pipida scan not the ultrasound or ct. It took 3 months for the drs. to figure out what was wrong with me. I got to the point I couldnt eat and didnt ever want to leave the house with pains on and off. I had one bad attack...felt like sharp pain in my chest...very bad heartburn all of a sudden and terrible headache. I read about them on gallbladderattack.com
zookeeper
I didn't have horrible pain, but just an ache under my right shoulder blade. I couldn't keep hardly anything down. Eating would make me vomit and have loose stools (at the same time :glare:) I was 12 wks pg when it was diagnosed so nobody believed me that something was wrong. They thought it was morning sickness. The worst symptom for me was continuous kinda painful burping. I finally had it out at 19wks pg. I'd lost so much weight that I didn't really have to lose, that we thought it would be better to have it out than wait til the pg was over. SweetMissMagnolia
I thought I was having a heart attack. A band of intense pain around by body right under my ribcage. :iagree: my sister had similar issues for years and ignored it--ended up in the e/r last year and at first they thought she was having heart attach--after alot of tests they found it was her gallbladder. She had to have surgery a few weeks later--since then she hasn't had anymore pain....
