My MRI results-good I think but not sure.

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Just wanted to let everyone know that my mri of my brain found a spot that was called 'non-specific'. Supposedly, it is not associated with abnormal enhancement. Not suspicious. BUT they want to follow it in 3 months with another MRI.

I haven't been able to talk with the doctor or see the report. This was a message left on my machine. I did give them permission to leave it on the machine.

Inside there is a part of me that is so afraid.

Can you share any stories that will make me feel better about this? Part of me is worried that it is the beginning of some tumor. I do also have MS but it has been stable for 9 years.

Tuesday I leave for Houston all by myself and I am scared. I will be there for two nights. I will have a PET scan and get the results by myself from the doctor there and then have to fly home. Please Lord, please let me have good news.

Thank you for listening. I haven't told my parents the mri results. I needed to tell someone. Please, if you could, please pray for me to have strength and courage and good news! Thank you.

And thanks for encouraging me to eat the pumpkin pies! They were great! :)

Praying here! It's probably nothing, but that's hard to believe after all you've been through!

It's hard to not tell your parents, but that's probably the right thing. My parents have been glad that I haven't gotten them worried about scares.

This is probably the hardest part of being a survivor...being vigilant enough about your health (good for you for getting the scan!) without letting it freak you out so much that it's hard to live a regular life. If the doctors aren't worried, really try not to worry. Those MRIs show weird things all the time that is probably something innocent. I had a spot on my bone scan that was nothing, probably remnants of a difficult childbirth. I would think that inactive MS would be exactly the type of thing that could leave a spot like that. Of course I'm not a doctor...they will tell you whether or not you should worry.

Was there any specific reason you got the scan?

Here's wishing you think happy thoughts until you talk to the doctor and find out more!

:grouphug: When DD was a baby, there were some issues that could have been neurological, but our wise pedi believed it was more like muscle tension in her neck. As a nervous mom, I wanted an MRI for DD, just in case, but he discouraged me. He said that with the technology being so advanced, there are many things on the scans that even the specialists are not very sure about--most are benign, organic changes that come and go.

I hope it is the same in your case.

Christine,

First of all, I apologize greatly for not knowing your full story. I know you've had health concerns recently, but do not have the full info.

Pet scan is used for skin cancer issues, right?

Our next door neighbor is a skin cancer survivor. She had many, many pet scans. She made changes, etc and all is well.

My sister is a kidney cancer survivor. Several months ago the doctor found a spot on her lung. She went in for ct scan or mri (don't remember) and it came back negative. She lost her taste and smell and went to a speciality doctor for that. All turned out well with that appt, but they found a "spot" on her brain.

She went in for mri. She had an mri on her brain once before. They compared the 2 tests which they concluded were negative. There is a kind of tumor that can be present in the brain that manifests 3 different ways: malignant, benign and a cross b/t the two (if my memory is correct). She also did NOT have any other symptoms. Her report came back negative!!
