momsuz123
Hi all, My 6.5 y/o is struggling with reading. She may have an issue going on with reading vs language. She was tested today by a SLP focusing on the language part of things. She is able to read BOB books now, but we need to progress. Any ideas of a great reading program? I ordered OPGTR, but am wondering if I should have got AAR instead, or in addition. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Critterfixer
It's not exactly a program, but my boys have improved their reading with Word Mastery by Akin. When they finish that we will move into Webster's Speller with more intensity. We used OPGTR and I think it does have good phonics, but the print was just too small for the boys and it was cumbersome to use as it was. If I had it to do over I would have cut the binding off the book and used it in a notebook so that it would lay flat.
Mystie
TATRAS is another version of the Spalding method. The DVD that comes with it also explains how to use it for "remedial" students (though they mean more like 10-11 yo).
