athomemom
We have not done well with Latin here. It's been difficult at best for us. I have English from the Roots Up and Prima Latina. Both of which have only been partially used. My guys are in 7th grade this year. I see that they need additional vocab or root work mainly, IMHO. (I think...I am still sipping coffee :tongue_smilie:) Suggestions? Should I pick up and finish Prima Latina and move forward, do the same with EFTRU? or ?? I would like to order something ASAP.:bigear:
athomemom
Oh, and even if your kiddos are a bit younger, please chime in! I need help! :D
nansk
I like EFTRU and also these two books for additional practice: Prefixes and Suffixes Greek and Latin Roots
DragonFaerie
DD really likes Vocabulary from Classical Roots. It's a pretty straightforward workbook. I'm also looking at Word Roots from The Critical Thinking Co. for next year (probably the CD-Rom version).
athomemom
Thanks! I'll look into these. Any others?
nansk
Two others I know are Red Hot Root Words (vol 2) from Prufrock Press which seems enjoyable and Vocabulary From Greek and Latin Roots which is suitable for 7th grade. I also have the Scholastic Vocabulary Packets and those are boring.
Mrs Twain
I am using Dynamic Literacy's WordBuild this year. It is a very straightforward, workbook program which just teaches the meaning of prefixes, suffixes, and Greek and Latin root words. You can start as young as 3rd grade. It is easy to implement, and I think it is a nice way to get some of the benefits of studying Latin without having to actually study Latin.
