milovany
We can't have regular mayo. (no eggs or dairy or other animal products right now, fish is okay) and my daughter just started tuna salad for lunch. What can we use as a binder if we don't have Vegenaise? Any ideas? Thanks! eternalknot
Do you need a binder? I always thought the mayo was for taste LOL (I eat neither tuna, nor dairy, but I have a colleague who eats it straight out of the can.) I'd think for a sandwich, you'd be fine with just the tuna ... maybe bits of chopped carrot, cucumbers, radish or something mixed in, but other than that - fine? You could do a panini-style, or warm it on the stovetop, to generate a twist on the mayo-less, bind-less sandwich :D

milovany
Thanks! I guess you don't need a binder, LOL. They're eating it without. I like to have one. We'd put apples and raisins in it and *I* like a binder but I'm not eating right now either so we're good! If I have some later, I'll do the salad dressing thing. GingerPoppy
There is a great, vegan, mayo-like spread--Almonaise--that you make yourself. I used the recipe in one of the Diamonds' books--not Fit for Life, maybe Living Health? Anyway, this link has a similar recipe. The only thing I would suggest is grinding the soaked almonds and then straining through cheesecloth, and just using the almond milk as you carry on with the recipe. It's truly yummy! http://12stepstowholefood.blogspot.com/2010/03/almonaise.html
