Myeightkiddies
My house is great, but the people who we purchased it from really cut corners on a few things. The countertop in the kitchen is one (just laminate), and the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms are another. We have white cabinets. They are some sort of pressboard with what I suppose is a painted or vinyl type front (not really laminate). On some of the cabinet doors (or drawer faces), the pressboard has swollen and puckered from water damage. I've been searching online and haven't found a close match to the these cabinets. I really don't want to order custom ones or expensive ones because the house needs to go up for sale soon, and my husband is relocating before us. I was hoping a local place (Home Depot or Lowe's) would have replacement as I am sure they are just cheap builder's stock, but they don't. Anyway, is there anyway to fix these? The kitchen just has two doors that need repair so I could move two good ones from one of the bathrooms to it. It would leave me just the bathroom doors/drawers to fix. Anyone have luck sanding and painting such a door? Don't want to put the house up with them as they are, and I don't want to invest in all new ones if I can avoid it (unless cheap / similar replacements).
