I am looking at Babylocks also, but of course they are a lot more and have had a few friends recommend Brother from costco.
prairiewindmomma
I have the serger from Costco. LOVE IT! (And it was a tiny % of the cost of a Babylock.) I testdrove a Babylock and this....and chose to the Costco serger so I could spend my $ on good thread (& save up for my Bernina Aurora with stitch regulator). Farrar
I'm pretty sure the one I have is actually that second one, just few years old. It's fine. Occasionally the bobbin gets persnickity, but I have yet to deal with a machine where that's not the case, though I admit I've never had a super nice all metal one. And my 7 yo used it just the other week, so it's kid friendly enough, I suppose.
prairiewindmomma
I just reread your thread (sorry my 2 yo was climbing all over me). I looked at the Brother sewing machines carefully and chose to go a different route...not that they were bad machines, but that I was worried about longtime life of the machine. Some of the reviews I read were a bit mixed about how the machines functioned after a year or two. I've had several plastic parts die in my machines, so I wanted something with a lot of metal internal gears.
