lets post some pictures of the horses we love so much! I can also learn how to post pictures this way....if this works the following pictures will be of Sal, who is my daughter's 16.2 hand TB gelding. She shows him in Hunters. We also have a TB mare who has taught my daugther more than I could ever say, she has earned her retirement!

I want to play...but I can't find any pictures. They're all backed up on CDs, and goodness knows where the CDs are...:tongue_smilie: I have one I snagged from my Facebook page, wonder if I can figure out how to upload.

Yay, I think I did it! Not the best picture, but that's me and my Trakhener/TB mare Whinnie doing the Adult hunters about 6 years ago. :D

Love all the pics posted so far, what cute horses!

Beautiful!!!!!

Some days I wish dd would decide on English. Then I could go hog wild and get her something we would both love! For now she is still a loyal Arabian lover :tongue_smilie: (I apologize to the Arabian lovers, but they are not my first love ;))

All you jumpers! We don't compete in anything.. we ride in the mountains mostly.

My daughter's horse is Arabian and she's the prettiest tidiest little english horse you ever saw! My computer isn't cooperating very well this morning, I'll see if I can dig up a picture...

My daughter says that that is a beautiful picture and she would love to ride through mountains like that :)

Here's my oldest girl on her horse, JL, a 32yr old quarterhorse. Not a fancy horse or fancy riding/jumping. Just a very enjoyable relationship. (sorry for the size...I have no idea how ya'll attached thumbnails)

There is nothing like seeing the bond between a girl and her horse!

No more jumping for me! I have retired to horse mom and occasional private instructor. I wish we had mountains like that! Dh was just offered to office out of South Dakota (which we refused since we just got settled here) but it was a bit tempting after seeing some of the photos.

It doesn't matter if a girl (or boy) and her (his) horse do jumping or trails or ring work or mountain rides...all that matters is the relationship between the two and truly.....that is one beautiful thing! We all have horses for different reasons but I'm just SO thankful for them!

A few more, my daughter and her wonderful mare, my son and his speckled horse, my viewfinder from the saddle and then again panhandling at the screen door for Cracklin' Oat Bran (his favorite thing ever)

HUH, not sure why those came out sideways! They aren't on my computer... I've spent way too much time looking through pictures now so I don't have time to figure out how to fix them! ETA obviously b/c they are vertical pictures, hmm, sorry about that!

Great pictures, everyone-jumping pictures are always so striking! Nice horses and good form, beautiful facilities!

Our horses are our mountain buddies and we've each had our riding horses for five years each-we're very attached and close to our horses... definitely part of the family and I love to see that with other kids too!

Back in August, our trainer told me that my dd was outgrowing (in size, but more so in skill) the pony we were leasing from him and that a family wanted us the lease the pony their daughter had just outgrown (they were only offering her to us and possibly one other family). So, we made the leap. There was a lot of flip flopping over who dd would show for the rest of the season and dd ended up showing both at one point. At the very end of the season, the new pony ended up tender footed so the last two show weekends were done on the previous pony (thank goodness we had a back up pony). Dd and Peabody had a rather spectacular finish to the season, which really seemed fitting. Peabody is a stubborn 20+ y.o. paint. Dixie is a well trained, sometimes stubborn, quarter horse. The first pic is of dd with her ribbon from Pony Medals this past weekend. The second pic is of Dixie.

Oh, I have an Arabian, too. :D I have had few over the years, and while I love them, I really prefer showing hunters. Hence the warmblood cross. The Arabian mare I have now is in her early twenties and is basically retired. I've had her since she was 3 years old.

mommaduck, a horse does not have to be fancy to be a good horse!! :001_smile:

Thanks, that pony is our little Welsh/Belgian cross! LOL I bought the pony at the auction and she turned out to be pregnant... found out after the fact that the people that dropped her off also dropped off a year old Belgian stud colt. :glare: She's turned out to be one of the greatest little horses we've had!

We love our horses and our mountains... we've dabbled in other horse activities but those are the biggies for us, two of our favorite things!

My dd17 rides a 14 year old, 17hh, Hanoverian warm blood. (Or Dumb Blood as her trainer calls him. :glare:) She leases him from the trainer.

They compete Hunter and just started competing in Jumpers.

I really need to get some pictures! The ones I have are just mainly of them. And don't mind the falling down fence...remnants of an old riding ring that has recently been taken down.

We're just getting started on the horse journey. These pictures are inspiring.

My Dh used to manage a 25 stall stable and owned trotters. He is seeing nothing but number signs. :D My kids on the other hand have found the loves of their lives. We're partial to warmbloods and drafts.

Simka, you're gorgeous.

Here are some of ours.

The jumping one is of 14dd jumping her pony--basically only the 2nd time or so they had ever done this and wanted to try at a show.

The one on the trail is of the girls on their horses early this spring.

The other one is of 16dd with her 30 year old QH guy.

Hey you horse people if you feed Purina Senior to any of these beautiful ponies you can print out a $10 coupon twice per email address here: http://www.equisearch.com/purina-senior-resource-center-quiz/

You have to take the little quiz but it's harmless.

I just saved a lot of money from this site-each member of our family has at least two email addresses! LOL

Yes, we adore the sweet baby. How anything that huge can be so silly is beyond me.

I am sorry about the one you sold. We miss our little QH mare but she was too small and slender for hunt/jump and we could not properly support two horses at once.

She was jumping a 2 foot course on a 13hh 25 year old pony that has never jumped before. My daughter put her over the jumps at the 4H leaders house a few days before this show and away they went. I thought they looked really cute.

Today she had a lesson on my horse and the jumping instructor (prof. hunter/jumper barn) said she could start jumping him after a few more lessons. She is VERY excited.

Mom is still nervous though :-)

We have 11 here at the moment, but it tells me I can only upload 5. I picked a representative...

The first (bay) is a 6 year old pony who just returned from "training." She came back after over a year of being at a "lesson" barn, but when I sent her out to another place to be sold they told me she essentially knows nothing but leadline (sigh). So now she's here waiting out the winter before getting placed with a trainer who knows what she's doing and has done a good job for me before.

The second (pinto) is one of my broodmares, but she wasn't bred this year. We'd intended on selling her, but that didn't happen either (economy). In the spring I'll decide whether she gets on the sale list again or gets bred.

The third is another of my broodmares - an APHA registered breeding stock mare who has given us really nice offspring.

The fourth is a 3 year old gelding who has been waiting for a home (ie is for sale). I thought we had him sold once to an older lady who absolutely loved him (and would turn him into a driving pony), but it didn't happen. I'll have to put ads on soon after Thanksgiving to see if he can find a home for Christmas.

The fifth is a 2 year old filly who we have high expectations for next year. In the spring I'll have to see if she goes out to training or waits until fall or the following spring. (We don't train two year olds under saddle.) She might also sell as some of my buyers have had their eye on her. For now, she's just out growing and enjoying her young life. ;)

Let's see... the 6 who didn't make the cut are:

- My buckskin stallion

- A chestnut roan registered Welsh broodmare

- A chestnut roan 3 year old gelding who I think is going to be sold next month

- A bay 3 year old gelding who should go into training in the spring

- A buckskin 2 year old semi-colt (had one taken off at gelding, but needs another operation after Thanksgiving - lucky him! - poor guy...)

- A buckskin weanling - last of this year's babies

That's it for on the farm right now. We also have 3 currently out being trained/shown, etc.
