athena1277
What are your plans for school next week? I plan to take Thurs and Fri off for sure, and maybe Wed. We are not able to be with extended family this year, so we are going to be home Thurs, which is the only day DH has off. Friday we will just play and have a fun, relaxing day. I can't decide whether to do regualar schoolwork Mon-Wed, or do something like Math, Reading and a unit study of some sort. I have considered doing a nutrition study with some materials I ordered a way back. I can't decide. So what are your family's plans? gingersmom
We have taken no vacation days so we are taking the whole week off. I am thrilled!
KRG
We will have a relaxed Monday and Tuesday and will take the rest of the week off.
snowbeltmom
I am taking the week off.:D The kids will have school on Monday & Tuesday. However, they get to choose all their academic pursuits those two days.
DianeW88
We will only do light work on Monday and Tuesday. Then we are off until after New Year's Day!!! I prefer to take this time off and work through the month of June instead. Because I can't do Christmas and homeschool. That's just crazy.
jillian
I am going to have dd make some fun Thanksgiving art projects (handprint turkeys, Pilgrim hats, etc) and we are going to learn about Thanksgiving and talk about what we are thankful for. DH has a 4 day weekend so we will probably do some interest led stuff and some nature walks Mon-Wed. She'll help me cook for Thanksgiving so that'll be our math discuss--practical application. MsAlimar
We are taking the whole week off. If they really beg I may agree to a couple of quick and easy subjects. :D
*Lulu*
We had too many missed days surrounding DBIL's deployment, (at least in my mind), so we are only taking Thursday. If I could figure out a way to "do school" Thursday without having my extended family of educators up in arms I would. :tongue_smilie:
wy_kid_wrangler04
We are taking the week off of regular school and doing a Thanksgiving Unit study put together with library books, craft books and online resources.
oldskool
I am looking forward to a week of uninterrupted school time. Most of the activities the kids are involved with are cancelled next week. No running off to piano, karate, homeschool group, girlscouts, gymnastics, etc, etc, etc. We get to have full days with no where to go and we finally can get some stuff done. Thanksgiving day will be off, but the other days we will be catching up and trying to even gain some extra ground. Lesley
Karen in CO
I'm working M-W so my kids are doing school M-W. Monday and Tuesday will be normal school, and Wednesday they'll get to do math then spend the rest of the school day baking. Please nobody tell them that other kids are getting the whole week off. 1GirlTwinBoys
We will have a relaxed Monday and Tuesday and will take the rest of the week off. That's our plan too. I have too much grocery shopping and cooking to do all week. :)
Daisy
My kids worked hard, doubled up subjects, and pushed through to the end of chapters/units. They are taking off all next week.

MinivanMom
We are taking the whole week off. I need time before the holiday to clean, prep, and cook. Dh works most holidays, so Thanksgiving is one of the only long weekends he takes off during the year. I think of Thanksgiving week as a break from our regular routine for intense family time at home.
skirch
We are breaking from Thanksgiving week until the new year. In the past, we would only school halfheartedly anyway in the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas so this year I decided we'd just take one big break and enjoy all the holiday activities and preparations peacefully and stress free. chepyl
We missed three days this week because I was sick. We will do school M-W and F. We are taking a month of in December though.
Excelsior! Academy
Light Monday and Tuesday. Our original plan was to work untilThanksgiving, but after some unexpected interruptions we are just playing catch up next week. We took off too much time in the last year to take an extended break, though.
ScoutTN
M, T, W and F - math and Thanksgiving fun stuff (art projects, cooking etc.)
MyLittleWonders
It is one of our scheduled weeks off; dh also has the week off from work (teacher). As it is, we have two birthdays, one combined birthday party, a well-baby appointment, four dentist appointments, and I do everything I can to get dh to put up Christmas lights the day after Thanksgiving, and I need to get us ready for Advent ... it'll be busy enough. I do plan, however, to try to get a couple more chapters of Heidi read. The boys are really enjoying it and I don't want to take off too much time between chapters. In the Rain
We are working on Monday and Tuesday. I'm hoping to be able to take much of December off. I'd like to get on a schedule of school in the summer and time off when the weather is nicer. (We're in Texas)
chicagoshannon
We're having regular school on Mon and Tues, doing a light day on Wed. A d then having Th thru Tuesday off. I'm planning on setting up the tree and doing Christmas crafts with our time off
Wendi
We need to get caught up on our history, so we will do history, art, and Japanese Mon. - Wed. We'll be reading the textbook and watching some documentaries for history. For art, we'll watch some lectures (we're using a Great Courses series) and hopefully go to an art museum. And for Japanese, we'll do some review and work on our hiragana. No co-op classes next week, so I'm catching up a bit on the courses we do exclusively at home. Belacqua
OK, now I'm feeling seriously guilty. I've scheduled Thursday off, but more or less regular studies for the rest of the week. At least the kid's Latin class and math team won't meet next week, so it won't be too strenuous.
antsam
We are taking the week off of regular school and doing a Thanksgiving Unit study put together with library books, craft books and online resources. :iagree: This is what we are doing. Planned on a three day week, but ended up having a lot of family decide to come visit. I figure we won't see them until at least lunch or later M-W, so we've planned to do some fun Thanksgiving stuff in the mornings. Hope it works out that way :) Jodie
