HiddenJewel
I am planning my daughter's senior year of English and wanted your input on what I am considering. These are the skills I want her to obtain in her first semester: Advanced tools for effective sentence structure (her structure skills are strong) Tools of persuasion Tools for successful public speaking I am thinking of using the following lecture classes from The Teaching Company and am wondering if these lecture sets are adequate to be used in this manner. I am assuming I would need to give assignments to practice the tools presented although it would be great if there are already assignments included. Julie in MN
My son usually types up a short summary of each lecture, just to keep things in his mind. We also discuss. And I may ask him the questions from the booklet, or skim thru the booklet and ask about something good that I see in there that he didn't bring up. Sometimes they relate to an essay he's doing (like the Iliad), but I haven't had him do essays specifically on TTC. He hasn't used the ones you mentioned, though. Julie That is a great idea for the documentary ones. I will have to remember. It seems that the most obvious things allude me sometimes. Kristin in Hawaii
... but have only used a few lectures with our group -- but they were very good and well received. Flipping through the booklet I see assignments for every lecture. This is what I'm planning on using later this year with our homeschooled highschool group. Best wishes!
