Susan in TN
Do you send cards to people for birthdays, sympathy, get well, new baby, etc.? If you had cards and postage stamps on hand would you send them?
annandatje
I write and mail personal letters instead of sending preprinted cards.

Paintedlady
Yes, I just sent out a sympathy card and a friendship card today to a dear friend who just lost her father. I admit I send less cards than I used to though.
happyhomemaker
I don't usually send birthday cards. I send new baby cards to friends/family who are out of town. In- town folks get a meal and a present. :001_smile: I do send out sympathy cards and a personal note if someone I know experiences a death in the family. The only other cards I mail are for Mothers Day and Fathers Day (all of our family is out of town).

Impish
I have no problem *buying* cards. Its the whole, "put something in them to personalize, put it in the envelope, seal it, address it, stamp it, put it in the mail box" thing that I get messed up on :tongue_smilie:
Heather in Neverland
Almost never. I am terrible at remembering events in time to do it.
QuirkyKapers
I don't send for birthday but sympathy and thank you cards, yes. I also will send something if someone is going through a difficult time.
HistoryMom
Sympathy cards only. It's not a formal policy or anything, I would just never think to do it for other kinds of life events and I think it's kind of a waste of paper. My extended family is very email-based. :)
Caitilin
Only if I KNOW the potential recipient will be massively offended not to receive one. I hate cards. I don't particularly even like receiving the things.:tongue_smilie:
Alphabetika
Yes, yes, yes! I am an avid letter-writer. I also make my own cards, either by collaging or using my photos.
QueenCat
Yes but I prefer ones with blank insides, giving me more space to write.

Parrothead
Yes, I send cards. I already have my Christmas cards signed, sealed and stamped. Thanksgiving cards when out last week.
Harriet Vane
No. I am terrible at remembering dates and cannot stand trying to remember to send cards.
Susan in TN
I have no problem *buying* cards. Its the whole, "put something in them to personalize, put it in the envelope, seal it, address it, stamp it, put it in the mail box" thing that I get messed up on :tongue_smilie: Me too - especially the personalize part. I actually bought a book called "How to Say It" so I could learn how to write notes. Yes, I just sent out a sympathy card and a friendship card today to a dear friend who just lost her father. I admit I send less cards than I used to though. Yes but I prefer ones with blank insides, giving me more space to write. My college roommate sends me a set of 4 or 5 cards every year for Christmas - she travels around the world quite a bit, and makes stationary from photos she takes. Her last set was tile mosaics from the Andalusia region of Spain. :) I've found that since I have these beautiful cards on hand I send far more cards now - especially sympathy, thank you, get well, and things like that (I'm worse with birthdays :tongue_smilie:). Anyway, I'm thinking about copying my friend and giving little sets of stationary for Christmas (postage stamps included).
SweetMissMagnolia
to some close friends/family yes---especially sympathy cards
Night Elf
Yes I do, except for my mother's birthday. I always have something delivered. The past couple of years I've used Edible Arrangements. It's expensive, but it thrills her and I just can't resist.
mytwomonkeys
i send birthday cards & gifts to my folks, nieces & nephews - that's it. otherwise, i only send thank you notes, condolence cards, and sometimes get-well (depending on the circumstance). if i get an invitation for a graduation or baby shower - they get a card and gift too. Happy
I hardly ever buy cards anymore. I make my own using my own photos. More creative and personal that way. I love sending 'thinking of you' cards or cards of encouragement when life is tough. It makes a big impact because so few people do it anymore.
