Deja vu all over again: Citadel and Penn State

Same pattern: officials knew of abuse and didn't contact police. Surprise /sarc/: other kids victimized by same perp.

 

Maybe, just maybe, this will sink into public consciousness and people will get it through their heads: if I know of abuse, I should call the police.

I really wonder if part of the reason for anemic responses is that people are not only uncomfortable with the subject matter, but haven't been exposed to what to do. So discomfort + uncertainty about what to do= anemic response.

 

I am hopeful that having "it should have been reported to police" all over the news will sink in and be helpful.

 

But for the Catholics who have been saying, "It's not just the Catholic church where this happens," there is certainly loads of proof lately that the phenomenon is rather widespread.
