dancer67
I started on Natural progesterone cream in September. This was my third month using it. This month I used 1/8tsp 2X day from days 10-19 and then upped it to 1/4 tsp 2x a day and started spotting on day 23, with my cycle starting on Day 26. The first month I was only using 1/8th tsp 2X a day from days 12-26, one day of spotting and got my cycle day 29. That was the only month it worked well. October, I was told to use the same thing, except start on day 14 and use until I got my cycle. That was a disaster. I started spotting on day 20 and got my cycle on day 26. Before using the cream, I always spotted about 3-5 days prior to getting my periods, then my cycle usually started between days 25-27. I have it for a maximum of 6 days, with the last two days only spotting, then done. THIS month though, I am on day 8 of my cycle and I am STILL spotting. Like I said, my periods last for 6 days. 1st day medium, 2nd day heavy, 3rd day medium, 4th day light and 5th and 6th light spotting. Then all done. I have been on this pattern now for about 2 years. Usually when my period slows down and I am spotting at the end it is brown. Well, I have been spotting pinkish red since yesterday. Nothing on a pantiliner, only when I wipe. I have never, ever, ever gone this long with my periods. 6 days max. Now I am on Day 8. It isnt a lot by any means and it isnt there every time I go to the bathroom. I am very concerned. I just had a GYN checkup and everythng was fine. Can it be from the Natural Progesterone cream and the upped dosage? I also have some cramps. Almost feels like I am going to GET my period. I am so aggravated. I am no longer going to take this NP cream because I am see a Biodentical hormone Dr in December. And I think she is going to do hormone testing so I want to make sure all hormones are out of my body. At what point should I get concerned if this spotting continues? Or should I not be concerned???? I am 44. I know I am in peri-menopause. So I hate all these changes because I never know if it is normal or not. I don't know if this is from the cream or what else could it be? If it was brown like it usually is I wouldnt be to concerned. But isn't red or pink fresh blood? I know it is coming from my cervix and not in my urine as I put a light tampon in just to make sure. There was very, very little on it(like a a size of a pea, and it was red/pink) Any input? All I know is that I am getting really sick of this. Bad enough I have to deal with pre-period spotting, but if my periods are going to start lasting longer then 6 days with never ending spotting like this every month, I am begging for my uterus to be ripped out. Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you. Edited November 16, 2011 by dancer67
clementine
I guess I have just decided that irregular period duration and days inbetween, plus the spotting is just a normal part of perimenopause. I am 43 and have been having perimenopause symptoms for 2 years. I just put a pad in when needed and deal with the irregular cycles with the attitude of "Oh well, in about 7 years it'll be over." I think that with all I have read & researched about perimenopause, what you are experiencing is normal. It's a nuisance, but sounds normal to me. I'll read this thread with interest to see if I am getting incorrect info. :bigear:
dancer67
Well, I hate this "normal".....ugh. my mother went through menopause at 48. I am just hoping to get lucky. I just wasnt sure it was the extra hormones in the cream I was taking.
clementine
My mom started perimenopause symptoms at 42 and was done with cycles at 52. It's a long road. :tongue_smilie:
jennsmile
:grouphug: My periods were shorter when I used my Diva Cup vs tampons. No clue on the spotting but I only used progesterone for 1 cycle then got preggo so contintued through my first trimester.
dancer67
I tried the diva. Cup my cycles were still about 5 to 6 days. I judt don't know if another trip to gyn is warranted and if so, when? I just went for my annual two weeks ago.
MAMommy
Yes it could absolutely be from the progesterone. Sadly, it's going to take longer than Dec. to get this out of your system. Hormone creams & gels build up in the subcutaneous fat tissues of the body. Routine blood tests cannot "see" these hormone stores in your fat cells & may indicate that you have "normal levels. After several months of use & if the tissue becomes saturated then the body starts dumping the hormone back into the system & you actually get an overdose of that hormone (the symptoms for overdosed hormones is the same as a lack of hormones). I'd make sure to ask your Dr. to do a serum blood test that way you can get a true reading of your progesterone levels. I do this with all of my patients. Good Luck!
