2_girls_mommy
Who has done this? Any pointers? When do you suggest doing it? After what level of study? To give an example, we are using Memoria Press. What can you tell me about it?
Sebastian (a lady)
We haven't done NLE yet, but we have done a couple years of the Exploratory Latin Exam, which is quite a bit easier. We've had a good time with it.
abbeyej
Definitely read the syllabi on the website carefully. That's the best way to figure out if your child is prepared for any of the exams and where you might need to supplement... It's meant to be a high school exam, so while younger kids *can* take it, the level of work required for the level 2-3+ exams is such that you might want to wait before giving the Introductory or Level 1 exams even for younger kids who could do well. I know kids as young as 8 who've taken (and done well) with the Introductory level, but then they can't really continue right away... The Exploratory Latin Exam is a good choice for elementary kids. Cleopatra
Thanks for the reminder! :D I've printed out exams from previous years but I know there was a thread on the highschool board where a mom listed the resources she used for her dc to study for the history content. But ....... I can't find it! Aargh! I'll search around a bit more and if I do come across it, I'll attach a link. ETA: My dd is doing the introductory exam this year after going through LCI & II and three-quarters of the way through Unit I of Henle. By the looks of the previous exams, it will be fairly easy for her (famous last words, right?). 2_girls_mommy
Exploratory latin exam.. this one is new to me. Thanks. I will be googling. And if you find that link you are thinking of please attach it here! This is all new to me as we are entering the logic stage soon, I am trying to get my longer term plans in order! I was looking at the exams from past years and the history portion from the introductory level looked doable already for what we have covered and we are getting closer on the latin. But then not being able to soon move up is something I hadn't thought about. Thanks.

I just started looking around the Exploratory Latin Exam site and the ACL site. It seems everything on the site is old. Does this exam still exist every year? Everything is several years old on there. How have you signed up and participated? Do you have any good links to current info?
