On Saturday the bride made an appointment for everyone to get manicures and pedicures.

To save some money I had a pedicure a couple days ago at a place where I had a gift card. I went with a french manicure hoping it would kind of match whatever we do on our hands, I'm not even sure if it matters since our gowns are so long.

I waited for the manicure because I didn't know if the other bridesmaids were going to do the same thing or not. IF it is all up to individual preference what do you think would be a good choice for fingernails?

Personally I like classic and understated, nothing crazy. Here is the dress. The color is capri, the very light blue option that is the fourth from the left on the top row.

I think I remember someone here saying that the point of the mani-pedi date is to have matching (visible) nails for the photos. If that's the case here, I bet they'll tell you what to get. I'm only basing that off what I read here though. We were married in street clothes and my husband had to work not long after the ceremony, so I'm clueless in the wedding department.

:iagree:

But I have to say that I hate this trend.

I was a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding. She insisted we match *everything*. Right down to our lipstick, a color which looked hideous on half of us.

I started writing a post about how creepy painted toe nails are, how tacky group matching manicures are, now inappropriate a totally strapless dress is in a church wedding. And then I realized that I sound like a really old lady - one of those annoying old ladies who thinks all the modern thing are inherently bad.

So I erased it. But I still think all of those things:)

As I said, I don't like the matchy-matchy thing. And I'm not a strapless kind of gal. But painted toe nails as creepy? I know people who don't polish their toe nails, but I didn't know people found it creepy.

I have even painted mine to try it. And objectively, it probably looks nice. But my father used to say that when he saw a woman with painted toe nails, he suspected she was trying to cover toe fungus. For some reason, I can't let go of that, and I do find it sort of creepy, even though I can't say it really looks bad. It just looks so fake.

Wow, that's one of the prettiest bridesmaids dresses I've ever seen! :001_smile:

I'd go for a french manicure. If it's too much for you, I think there's another kind of manicure that's like the french style, but not as white on the tip--can't think of the name now.

I believe it is called American.

Some of the responses here are cracking me up! My dh hates those toe fungus commercials, don't tell him about nail polish potentially trying to hide it!

The bride has been VERY specific that she wants everyone to do what they want regarding nail polish, jewelry, hair, makeup and shoes. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the bridesmaids want to do the same thing and if so I'll just roll with it.

Thanks for the responses!

I was a bridesmaid for my best friend from high school who insisted that we all wear matching perfume. :glare: It had to be Realities. In retrospect, after what she discovered about her new dh AFTER the wedding,......it should have been Escape. :001_huh:

I'm another one who has been traumatised by the "matching EVERYTHING bridesmaids" experience. Suffice it to say that when some of the bridesmaids are latino-looking, the colour that made them look like hot models made the rest of us look like we'd had gastro for a week :glare:

I think that dress is a gorgeous colour and is just asking for a french manicure :)
