ProudGrandma
I am 44, and have short, straight, flat, fine hair. My face is oblong (long and thin) and I have a high forhead. I have worn my hair pretty short for years, with bangs to cover my high forhead, but I am tired of the fact that the hair style needs daily maintanence (lots of product, blow drying, lots of hair spray afterward) and I would love to find a lower maintanence hairstyle, but I don't know what might look good on my face and with the kind of hair I have. I have asked different hairstylists their thoughts and opinions, but more often than not, I get "let's look at some books and see what you think"....If I KNEW what I thought, I wouldn't be asking a hair stylest for their opinions....it is frustrating. We live in a rural area, so their aren't any "high society" type salons around. Does anybody here have any thoughts for me???
Guest submarines
I have the same hair--fine and straight. Over the years I've embraced my high forehead, and don't have bangs anymore. :D Love it! Find a hair stylist who does layers nicely, even on fine hair. I only use hair thickenning gel on wet hair, and blow dry. Some days I even skip the gel. Hair products have gone a long way in the last 15 years. I love the gel, I don't feel it on my hair, and yet my hair looks fuller. I have this haircut:
ProudGrandma
that is cute...would this look good on someone who has a long face?
livingnlearning
What is all the product making your hair do? Is it layered, one length, angled forward or back? all one length or a bob, what is the present style? Growing bangs out is a good change! Choppy layers will break up fine hair.. my best buddy has very very fine hair and she has it in a sideswept layered bob...she can either leave it to air dry, then scrunch with product of some sort, or really style it, or get a little clippie and stick the bangs up and not even think about it. let's see if my picture works...similar hairstyle
Guest submarines
I have a longish, narrow face. I really like how it looks on me. This is actually the first hair style ever that I really love. Before that I had various pixies, and chin-lengths, and never felt about them as good as I feel about this one. I think the only way to find out is to try :D
livingnlearning
Jennifer Aniston has a long face, I think.. and her hair is famous! I think it would look good, those sideswept bangs/side part help to frame the forehead...

Most hair that looks straight has actually come wave to it, and it helps with styling. The really straight fine hair is...wel...fine and straight...no matter what.
Shelly in IL
After much kicking and screaming and hairbrush throwing, my hair is similar to the big above pic. I am thinking of blunting the back a bit, but leaving the front long. For some reason it makes me look like i have more hair, as did dyeing it darker. When I grow it out, it just lays flat against my face...no volume what so ever!!! VERY frustrating!!!
Shelly in IL
I have horrible hair, doing this and using a good hairspray makes my hair much fuller. Dyeing helps, too.
