Two Plus Two is Not Five

We used it, though not the whole way through. We were stuck at a hump and it got us over the hump. But, I liked it enough to buy the multiplication one.

It is strictly a method of memorizing addition/subtraction facts. It's a nice blend of learning the tricks (7+5... you take the number skipped, 6, and double it) and rote memorization of facts starting with 0+0 and working your way up. I like the tricks, but I needed a systematic method to teach them. The tricks SEEM like they would take a long time, but they become automatic with practice. I am a finger counter for my facts and these tricks have let ME do facts without counting.

It groups facts into logical groups (not in order) and usually teaches subtraction along with addition. The biggest con might be that the facts are not learned in order. So, if your math program wants you to be learning all of the 4 facts, that won't happen.

It introduces the trick and has several drill sheets. At the same time, you are supposed to be working with them via flashcards or games (I used flash master, right start games, flashcards, etc....) It does routinely incorporate review of old facts into the worksheets.
