charlotteb
DS, 9th grade, is taking a ground pilot's class. Its the first step in getting a pilot's license. There is no flying involved- just learning all the basics first. The class is once a week for 3-4 hours plus apx 1 hour of homework. Would you all count this as an elective or extra curricular activity on his transcript?
Musicmom
I'd be inclined to count it as an elective. Since it's a class and has homework, it sounds academic. Later if he does any actual flying (or whatever), you might want to count that part as an extra-curricular.
Photo Ninja
I think it could go either way. Usually I recommend listing outside activities as extra curricular, but this is one course that could be listed on a transcript, as long as you can issue a grade or use a grade the instructor issues. If your ds doesn't need the credit, then list it as extra curricular, along with the rest of his flight training.
Julie in MN
I might wait and see as high school progresses, if you don't need the transcript right this minute. A strong set of extracurriculars is an excellent selling point, but if he needs the credit, it sounds like this portion of his training would easily qualify for credit. Ester Maria
I would count it as an extra-curricular.

creekland
I'd vote extra curricular. That section of an application is looked at a bit more than the transcript and you want "different" things to stand out.
