RoughCollie
Please pray for my son Stephen. Tomorrow morning, at 8 a.m., he will be undergoing oral surgery with general anesthesia. He is having 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed. He will also have a broken tooth removed and a bone graft done on his jaw where that tooth is. This is stage 2 of the repair work needed after DS1 threw a Bitty Baby bell in the dark while the kids were having a pillow fight years ago. The bell knocked out one tooth, fractured and broke the one next to it, and injured his jawbone. Stage 1 was cleaning up the mess and a root canal, and stage 3 will be an implant. Stephen has been brave through three major surgeries (not oral) already, and I know he will be tomorrow, too. But he must be scared and anxious, and there is no way I can make that go away. Of course, I told him exactly what to expect from surgery and throughout the healing process. I have done a ton of research and I'm fully prepared to take care of him. I know he isn't a baby, but right now, it sure feels like he is to me. Anyway, I would appreciate your prayers for Stephen's anxiety and fear to be lessened, for him to stay alive through general anesthesia - and beyond, and for him to not experience pain or infection or nausea during the healing process. I know I am making a big deal of this -- I've already been informed of that by DH and Stephen when both of them refused to let me buy baby food meat and a baby spoon (in case he can't open his mouth wide enough for a regular teaspoon). Thank you, RC Edited November 15, 2011 by RoughCollie
Chris in VA
You got prayer! Dh just took ds to the oral surgeon today for a consult--he has 4 impacted wisdom teeth, too, and needs a 3D CAT scan so the Dr can locate the nerve. So we have to put it off until January b/c of insurance! Ugg. We've already put it off nearly a year. Annnyway, will pray for y'all. :D (Thought a big toothy grin appropriate...) Starr
Praying for your son and you too! I've got a ds needing some major dental surgery after the first of the year as well. And they are still our little boys. :grouphug:

RoughCollie
Thank you, again, for praying. Stephen did very well. He was supposed to take an hour to recover before we went home. Instead, the minute he woke up, he gestured for a pen and paper, and wrote a long philosophical question for us to discuss. We left about 1/2 hour early. The painkillers wore off quickly, too. I got him out of there as fast as I could, and gave him 800 mg Motrin from drugstore. We went to DH's office (in same place) while we waited for the percocet prescription to be filled. He took 1 percocet 45 minutes ago, and he is still in pain. He's also on antibiotics and steroids. Right now, he is holding 2 packages of frozen peas against his face while watching House on Hulu+. So, if you have the inclination, I'd appreciate some prayer about Stephen's pain. Thank you, RC Edited November 15, 2011 by RoughCollie
Jean in Newcastle
I'm glad that the surgery went well. I'll pray about the pain. It will probably take a little while for the percocet levels to get to an optimum level. So have him take them as prescribed so that his levels don't dip.
