Registering for AP exam for self study students

I am trying to find out if there are any High schools in Nassau County, Long Island, NY that will register a student for taking AP exams in their facility. My son wants to give some of these exams in 2012, but the private school he goes to does not offer those courses nor will they register him for taking those tests. The public high school (Syosset) will also not register him. We have already requested the AP coordinator as well as the Principal. They have been totally non-cooperative.

Does anyone know of any High School either in Nassau county or Suffolk who have a history of allowing outside students to appear for AP exams in there facility. Any info will be much appreciated.

I have already contacted the College Board and they have asked me to contact them after January 2012 when they will have more info about schools registering for AP, but I wanted to get some certainty beforehand so that all the hard work my son is putting in does not goes to waste.

You could check with private schools. I thought I'd have to drive an hour or more away for my guy, but when I contacted collegeboard in Jan of last year they gave me the contact info of a Catholic school in the next town over. When I contacted them, they thought about it for a week, then willingly let my guy take his AP there. He did have to abide by their dress code for the test, but that was no big deal to us. That school was also extremely nice to my guy - their guidance counselor spent time with him talking about colleges and his plans, etc. If he wants to take more tests this year, he's welcome there.

This is a helpful link: AP Course Ledger It won't tell you whether a school is administering tests, but it will tell you what schools have approved syllabi -- so there is a chance that those classes might be taught and tests administered. At least in helps narrow the field if you want to call schools and talk to their AP Coordinators.

Good luck finding a school!
