Mom-ninja.
What's really hard about being a mom whose kids are with her 24/7 is trying to go to the Dr. I ended up making an unplanned trip to the Dr. this afternoon. Of course youngest had not napped and was in the best of moods. While I was having blood drawn and an EKG, I found out later that three people had asked my kids to be quiet, who were in the lobby. My oldest told me it was my 3 yr old that would holler about something but that he and my 7 yr old were quiet. Sigh. I have no one to watch them. My dh can't take off from work especially short notice like today. It stresses me out.

Denisemomof4
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:that IS very stressful. I think many/most of us are in the same boat. I could have left my older three with people but can't leave my youngest ever. So I bring my girls to my appts all the time. When I went for my annual gyn exam, I had the dd's stand behind the curtain. Youngest peeked through and said, "When you lay down, mom, your boobs disappear." :blushing: I sternly told her they were still there, they were resting in my armpit.:lol::lol:
sewingmama
I know how you feel. I have no one to leave my kids with either. I have some potentially serious issues I need checked and I have to wait till DH goes on holidays in 6 weeks time :glare: which means if I get bad news it will be right smack bang on Christmas - just like last year. Mine are too young to be left in the waiting room. I usually bring them in and hand them all a lollipop and tell them to sit in a row against the wall LOL. The rooms are tiny though and I often have the baby on my lap which makes it hard for the DR to examine me. Of course my kids are fascinated by all things medical so as soon as we enter the room it's all "Wow mum - he has BANDAIDS" and Hey mum what does this do":glare: I need a Pap smear but I am definately waiting till my DH can watch the kids. My 2yo has stranger fear and I'd have to have it with him lying beside me:001_huh: Thankfully after the intital curiosity my kids are good in the doctors office -they seem to get that you don't muck around there. The DR usually thanks them as we walk out for being good kids - so it could be worse. Luckily my 4yo now goes to preschool so that's one less I have to take if I schedule it right. Our toddler was into everything. I had visions (nightmares) of having to whip out my credit card to pay for a broken ear/eye checking thingy as well as the blood pressure thingy on the wall. Never again.
jakesask
Same situation here. My 3-year-old daughter comes with me, right into the room, for procedures like blood draws and EKGs. A lab tech even let her hold a vial of blood once, so she could see how warm it was. :-)
JudoMom
:grouphug: I'm sorry. I've been accompanied by little people to many doctor appointments. I've always taken them back with me. It is hard.:grouphug:
Cricket
I remember when my now 8 yo was a baby and I had to make a trip to the doctor. I took my older two boys with me as well. They into a fight in the examining room. My dd started crying and I so did I. The doctor prescribed me some anti-anxiety medication and an anti-depressant. I didn't take the medication and I was able to laugh about it later. :grouphug:

I'm laughing and crying at the same time because this sort of happened to me at the dermatologist a month ago. Baby was screaming for more snacks, 2 1/2 year old was crying (long story) and I'm standing there with nothing on as my derm was examining me for moles and then I knocked over a whole can of those Gerber Graduates cracker thingies onto the floor. My derm (who's the nicest gal in the entire world) just kind of chuckled as she and her assistant kindly said, "Don't worry about it. We're moms, too! We know!" amyx4
No family. I offer, stickers, lollipops and bribery in that order. When we are waiting I have a bag of stickers that they use to cover the exam paper. I push every available chair and stool up against the exam table and I stand there passing stickers to the toddler. When the exam happens I hand everyone a lollipop and hopefully it keeps them quiet enough so I can speak to the dr without the non-toddlers asking a zillion questions. If everyone works together then we stop for another snack/junkfood item on the way home. This works 'cause stickers, lollipops and bribery are only pulled out during desperate times! p.s. always check your rear after you've sat on the sticker covered exam paper!
