amo_mea_filiis.
Can I buy either the workbook or teacher's manual or must I have both? If I do get the workbook, ds will not be writing in it because he uses handwriting without tears paper/lines.
ktgrok
The teachers manual really isn't a teachers manual. It is a general outline of the program, to be used by you to plan narration and dictation. The workbooks have all the narration and dictation set up for you for each day, and do NOT require a teacher's manual, the teacher directions are all in it. The back of the book has pages to tear out for him to write on, but you could use your own paper instead. It is less of a workbook and more of a manual with blank pages to write on in the back. dcjlkplus3
Also starting about level 3 (I think) the narration selections are in the student pages - not the teacher places - just something to keep in mind if you are actually using the student pages in the back of the workbook (they are also in the student page sets)
myfunnybunch
If you plan to do most, or even some, of your own selections for dictation, by choosing selections from your history or science or literature, for example, then the manual is what you want. The benefit is that you can combine the writing lesson with another subject. If you want the ease of not having to find your own dictation/narration passages, then buy the workbook. :) The benefit is that you don't have to plan ahead much; you just pull out the book and go. I am using the TM (no workbooks) with my younger boys, and the workbook for my oldest who struggles with writing. Cat
Mommy22alyns
Yes, you can use just the workbook or just the teacher's book. I like using the workbook.
