DawnM
Have any of you found that a special pillow or device/machine helps with your back pain? I have lower back pain that I was going to a chiropractor for, and it helped, but my insurance now doesn't cover what it used to, and I just can't keep up with going financially. I am looking at things on Amazon like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016L7DH0/sr=1-1/qid=1321148502/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1321148502&sr=1-1&seller= Has anyone tried something similar? What do you recommend? Thanks, Dawn
DawnM
Bump. I have to say that my back and neck pain is so much more bearable now that the other pains are gone (due to my cutting out wheat.) I have had minimal pain from the other issues in the last couple of weeks. Dawn
Swimtaxi234
I have degenerative disc disease in my lower back. I use a Tens Unit for the pain and to control the spasms. Our children are athletes and they are very comfortable with turning to the Tens Unit instead of taking meds for their aches and pains. Send me a private message and I will send you the link to my Tens Unit because I'm not sure if I am allowed to post that here.
Lolly
Dd suffered from a sciatic nerve problem for over a year. A tens unit helped keep her pain at bay tremendously (well, while she was wearing it). Lidoderm patches are a miracle for pain, but they require a prescription and are pretty $. The other thing that is pretty easy to try (if you are about to need one anyway...) is a new mattress. That can make all the difference in the world sometimes. RegGuheert
I've had muscular pains in my back off-and-on for about 30 years. MomsintheGarden and I have learned to do massage for most of the pains we have in our backs, necks and shoulders. (We do not have any skeletal problems that we know of.) About six months ago I had a pain in my buttocks that seemed like it might be related to sciatica. I found and I did that simple exercise twice. I have not had pain in that area since then. Amazing! Good luck with eliminating your back pain!
mommymilkies
I have had good luck with the Hab-It DVD and doing yoga for my backpain. Also, I sleep with a pillow between my knees.
DawnM
You mean this? http://www.amazon.com/Management-Professional-Channel-Modes-Model/dp/B005E7P4NC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321218504&sr=8-1 I have never heard of one. Interesting. Tell me more.
Hoggirl
I have had good luck with the Hab-It DVD and doing yoga for my backpain. Also, I sleep with a pillow between my knees. Not knowing what your situation is, however. I used to have lower back pain that is now completely gone now that I am exercising regularly. Mostly weight training. I don't know what your situation is, so exercise may not be possible for you, but it did help me tremendously.
Alyeska
Physical therapy. It will work on getting muscles strengthened. I've known folks who've had great success at significantly reducing back pain by doing PT.
Lolly
You mean this? http://www.amazon.com/Management-Professional-Channel-Modes-Model/dp/B005E7P4NC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321218504&sr=8-1 I have never heard of one. Interesting. Tell me more. Yep. We got ours through a physical therapist. My understanding is that the electrical impulses (little shocks) confuse the nerves and they stop sending the pain impulses. No side effects that I know of. Just don't forget you are wearing it and get in the tub!:D
nrg
I have many back issues and have had surgery. Physical therapy has been wonderful! Pain causes us to guard and alter our positions and movements until other damage results. Therapy can straighten, strengthen, and stretch, causing long lasting relief and better function. I tried exercises, steroid injections, stretches I read about, but an expert (PhD level) therapist and a strong home program makes all the difference.
