IrresistibleGrace
I have an excellent cheesecake recipe that a friend is wanting to try but she does not have a springform pan. Can she use the same recipe in a 9x13 or something else? If it helps to know, the recipe makes a large 10-inch cheesecake using 5 packages of cream cheese (plus lots more ingr. obviously). Thanks!! FlyingMOm
I always make my marble cheesecake (which uses 4 blocks of Philadelphia Cream Cheese) in a 9x13 pan. In fact, I made it yesterday and it came out great!
Mergath
I would think so, though she'll obviously have to adjust the baking time and probably adjust the amount of crust. I make cheesecakes in both my springform pan and in the store premade graham cracker crusts, and I've never had any problems. You can get a decent springform pan for not much more than ten bucks. If your friend is going to be making more cheesecake in the future, she might just want to buy one. They are very handy. :001_smile:
JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
I don't see why not. You just need to adjust to get enough crust and a deep enough filling. You might also need to watch carefully that either the center didn't stay too liquidy or the sides burn. Or both at the same time. Perhaps if you were to consult a recipe for cheesecake bars. (I've eaten but never made such a thing.) Of course a 9x13 might just be enough cheese cake for me...what to do about the rest of the family? :D
