ProudGrandma
I love Amazon most times...but they just raised the price on a toy I have had in my cart by $8...now I don't know if I should get it before it goes higher...or do I wait and watch and hope it goes back down again...what do you do...(oh it is a Christmas gift, so I have time)
Samiam
It'll go down again and probably cheaper than it was to begin with. I'd wait, not to mention they start to guarantee "delivery by Christmas" as it gets closer to the holidays. Having my own love/hate with Amazon....their free shipping has gotten slower and slower to actually SHIP out....waiting over 5 days now for my order just get shipped! ProudGrandma
I hope you are right. I just died when I saw that...I hate it when that happens. Why does it do that anyway...is it a supply and demand thing...or just a random deal...

Oh I know. It used to be that everything was delivered by UPS so you could track when it was coming. Now all my orders get transfered to the post office after UPS brings them to my city and tracking stops and the post office takes 2-3 days to deliver it after they get. Why does it do that anyway...is it a supply and demand thing...or just a random deal... They have algorithms to change the price in response to what other vendors charge. I've watched something all summer (because I didn't have the money to buy but wanted to get a feel for what was a good price when I did have the money). That item changed price every single day (sometimes multiple times a day) and had a price swing of $35 dollars (and it was only a $100 item to begin with). Someone posted the CamelCamelCamel site where you could track price over time and see what is a good price. Besides if it's a toy I'm sure it will go on sale before Christmas. I'd wait to buy it. Disney Dreaming
I would just watch it. Every site I just checked had it for $25-27.99(regular price is 29.99). I checked toysrus.com, etoys.com, walmart.com, and amazon.com. Walmart was the cheapest at $25.00.
In the Rain
Is it being sold by Amazon, or another company? When items are being sold by a third party company, and fulfilled by Amazon, the price changes as the vendor changes. I think they feature the lowest priced item (item + shipping). When that vendor sells out, they move to the next lowest, KWIM?

I might just go at leaset check it out. Their prices don't change, so I can sit on it for a little while...thanks.
QuirkyKidAcademy
I have a Lego Advent Calendar in my cart. For the last two weeks, price has fluctuated by $5-7 almost daily - drop then back up; lather; rinse; repeat. Hang in there. I bet it comes back down next week. twoxcell
Take it out of your cart and wait a week or so. The price will go back down often times lower than it started.;) I swear if I ever leave something in my cart a day or longer they always raise the price. My dh says they hope you won't notice or that you will think you need to buy fast before it goes up again. This has happened to me several times. KS_
Bookmark http://camelcamelcamel.com/ and check stuff against their database. It will give you a history of prices and some indication on how often the price will go up or down.
ProudGrandma
I did that, and it has gone down to $20 3 times in the last month....based on that, do you think it will go down again....it has gone down...and then all the way up to $28, the last 2 times...how do you read that?? KS_
Well, I've used it mainly to order when I see that it's at a low point (stuff I've had in my cart for awhile, or something I'm checking on and see that today, it's as low as it's been). I am waiting on an item that went down last November to it's lowest price, but hasn't gone down yet (and I don't know if it will for sure, but know it's at its highest now). It's still somewhat of a guessing game if you need the item - how long do you wait to see? But if it's at a high point, I'd try to wait til it dropped some. scrappyhappymama
For sure I would wait. Amazon does lots of price drops on toys between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every year I end up buying most of our toy presents for the entire year during this time.
