DawnM
I have been very careful to be wheat free other than I still have been eating oats that may contain trace amounts of wheat. I am on vacation right now and know I have had trace amounts without blatantly eating wheat. However, I am happy to report that overall I feel so much better. My achiness is almost gone. I seem to have more clarity and more energy. The fogginess is lifting. I still plan to see the doctor soon. I would like him to at least say, "Then stay off wheat!" as some people think I am nuts and on some gluten free "craze" and have commented that unless a doctor says I should I don't know what I am talking about. Next goal is to cut out sugar, or most sugar. Dawn
jplain
Congrats on 3 weeks! Here's my advice: allow yourself a lot of grace when you tackle sugar. It'll be a learning experience. :) It helped me to realize that my body sincerely believes that eating sugar is best for my survival. My body thinks I should consume sugar to store the energy as fat, which'll help me get through the winter. My body doesn't know that there's a virtually endless supply of sugar, not to mention sweaters and indoor climate control. My body thinks that sugar only comes around when fruit ripens seasonally and/or I stumble upon a beehive. In other words, overdoing sweet stuff isn't a moral weakness. It is a biological weakness. :D That's not to say it is impossible though! I eat very little sugar and rarely struggle to say no to sweets. However, when I do indulge in something super-sweet (hello Christmas candy!), I find that I have trouble stopping. Everyone is different though; I have no trouble with small amounts of dark chocolate, but one of my relatives can't even have that around or it gets gobbled up
DawnM
I am much the same. I crave sugar! When I dieted before (the diet that actually worked!) I found that if I ate 2-3 pieces of fruit per day, I didn't crave the sweets as much. I don't plan to take real, whole fruit off my plan as I am not going low carb. I just need to cut the refined stuff. Thank you, Dawn

DawnM
I haven't lost much, maybe a couple of pounds. Are you doing anything besides just cutting wheat to help you lose weight?
