Joanne
Consequences for Ashton's behavior. When you make your livelihood off the interest of the public, you are subject to all your dumb mistakes being costly.
Lang Syne Boardie
Not an Ashton Kutcher fan, but I think he behaved perfectly here. He spouted off ignorantly. But once he found out the truth, he was instantly and appropriately horrified, and even grounded himself from Twitter. He was obviously appalled. Quoted from the article: "Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet!" he added. "Didn't have full story." Realizing the gravity of his gaffe, Kutcher posted a frank apology and signed off from the microblogging website -- at least temporarily. "As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case," he tweeted. "As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won't happen again," he added." But when you have 8 million people reading your thoughts everyday, you might want to have the "full story" first.
Myeightkiddies
I'm sure his publicist did a face palm. I'm not a fan, but I respect that he admitted his mistake.

But I think he handled it well. People are going to make mistakes and put their foot in their mouth...even celebrities.
Belacqua
I'm sure his publicist did a face palm. I'm not a fan, but I respect that he admitted his mistake. Agreed. And he has done a lot of work to help exploited children, so I'm inclined to find his apology genuine.

Nakia
Not an Ashton Kutcher fan, but I think he behaved perfectly here. Come on! He is sooooooo easy on the eyes. :D I agree with you, TB. Good on you, Ashton!
twoforjoy
Early media reports were saying things like "inappropriate touching," not anal rape. I had the same reaction as Kutcher before I heard the full story. I think his response was fine, and I think the backlash against him is uncalled for. There is no reason to turn this into some sort of witchhunt for anybody who doesn't respond immediately with what we feel is a sufficient amount of anger and outrage, especially when many media outlets weren't reporting very accurately on what happened. I think there is no reason for him to stop tweeting. That seems like overkill to me. An admission of his error based on incomplete information should have been sufficient for people. MelissaMinNC
You know what makes me more furious than Ashton Kutcher's stupid mistake? Every article that is referring to this horrific, awful, nightmarish series of events as a "child sex scandal" or, describing what happened in the shower (as this article does) as "Sandusky having sex with a young boy." STOP. IT. That boy was not "having sex." It was r@pe. It's just disgusting - stop trying to make it salacious and call that monster what he is. Ugh. I'm sorry. I shouldn't post about this. I'm just sick about it.
