First, myy thanks to both Colleen in NS and CleoQC for updating everyone. :)

Baby Lauchlin James was born Nov. 4 at 4:15, about an hour and a half after my water broke (had a couple of gel applications and that was it). I am now a member of the no epidurals club. :D

He's was 9 lbs 6 and 23 inches and absolutely healthy and perfect.

Dramatic Birth Story Summary (I'm part of the Dramatic Birth Story club too now :D):

I just got out of hospital because the whole thing sort of went downhill after Lauchie was born. I was bleeding and wouldn't stop and it turns out that as he came out, Lauchie tore me up pretty severely, "the worst tearing I've seen in 25 years," my OB informed me . Lots of yucky details and implications I won't go into but I had to go to the OR (they made sure I got to hold and nurse Lauchie first) and had several blood transfusions. The OB was threatening another yesterday but thankfully my hemoglobin count or whatever was up just enough to reassure him. I now have more stitches then the Frankenstein monster and I'm probably looking at at least a month before I get any energy back and probably 6 before I'm back to normal physically if all goes well (which it really has been. I'm doing much better then my OB expected already. Whoo hoo!). The seriousness of it all is just starting to hit home.

DH has taken vacation time and additional paternity leave (Canadian fathers can take that) so I'll be in his good hands for at least a month. I don't have a lot of energy and am currently sitting uncomfortably on a couple of fluffy pillows to post this so I don't expect to be on too often but I did want to let you guys know what was going on.

Anyways, I'm home, getting healthy and have an absolutely wonderful little baby boy to snuggle so it's all good. He's a dream too...Great nurser and loooong sleeper.

Congratulations!!! I just love his name :D I was pretty torn up after DD9 was born (decelerating heartrate, fast vacuum extraction, etc.) too--if you have a Boppy pillow, it makes an excellent seat! Nothing really makes it comfortable, but that was the best I could do, for sure.

Many gentle :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: to all of you!

Oh, he's heavenly!!!!!

Please, please take it slow and try not to think of a time frame for regaining your strength... just take naps as often as you really can and be very good to yourself, it takes a lot of time with these kinds of things...

Oh my goodness, I KNEW IT! I was so worried about you - I knew something dramatic had to have happened - I am SO GLAD to hear you are OK, though!!! And congratulations!!! Glad Baby is just fine. I have been thinking of you and praying for you each day.

I had two unexpected c-sections, so I understand the longer recovery time. Big huge hugs to you!!:grouphug: And hooray for Canadian paternity leave!!!!

First, I just love what you named him! And I love the potential nicknames that can go with it. :D

Second, I'm sorry it all went downhill after he was born. I'm glad that everything is looking better now. I'll pray for quick healing for you. DD#1 tore my cervix on the way out and that wasn't much fun....so I know where you are coming from.

What a gorgeous baby! I am so glad that everything is moving in the right direction and I pray you feel better soon. Although not in Canada, my dh used vacation time to take a month off when each of our girls were born. It was such a blessing to have him here that first month. I am glad you have that too.

He is GORGEOUS! When he's a teen, you'll be beating the suitors off w/ a stick!

I'm so glad your hubby gets to take some of the time off us Canadians are blessed w/ being able to have. And I'm so glad they took care of you before things got WAY outta hand. Even us folks in the wee old maritimes get good medical care when push comes to shove.

I had hemorrhaging after MissB was born too. My placenta was not contiguous (was attached in more than one spot) and didn't detach at all. 3 units of blood, 5 of components/platelets, and 2 units of plasma. My haemoglobin went to 67 (normal in this neck of the woods is 110-150), and w/ all that it went to 89. They let me out then, even though usually you have to be 90+ to leave hospital. They told me 6 mo to get it back reasonable levels. Nope, not quite 3 months later I was back over 110, and was back to *my* norm by 5 months (my norm is 150-160). My platelets took a bit longer, but I was back to normal range by 5 months too. Then again, I'm a carnivore/omnivore, and LOVE liver & onions, and Irving Big Stop restaurants make the BEST liver&onions!!!! And the staff go all googoo over new babies! :)

Blessings & healing. Enjoy the new lad. Take care of you and be gentle to yourself. You did a lot of work growing him, and it takes time to heal up too. :grouphug:

Congratulations! He is truly beautiful. Your dc all look positively RADIANT.

(I understand the "more stitches than Frankenstein." ;) It took me awhile to recover, but that beautiful baby is well worth it!)

Enjoy this time with your dh, dc, and little newborn! What a wonderful, snuggly time you'll all have!

Again, CONGRATULATIONS!

MM
