wy_kid_wrangler04
Dd 8th did All American History in 6th grade and I would like to get the 2nd half of American history in after she is done with MOH 3. We will only have a couple months to work on it. What is good, thorough but not to time consuming? We will do it daily if that helps. I would be willing to do DVD's if you have a good series. If that is the case I would do that over the summer with all 4 kids (unless its something only suitable for the older 2 for some reason) I have the America: History of Us by the history channel that they gave out free. Would that work? I have not had a chance to watch it yet  Any thoughts on that? What else would you recommend?
Another Lynn
Hey, this is more of a bump than a recommendation... but I can at least tell you about another resource that may be worth considering. http://www.history2u.com/store/cart.php?cat=Video+Store Vol. 2 would cover the 2nd half of American History. I'm only acquainted with it because we got Vol. 1 as part of HOD's Rev to Rev Extension Pack. I only watched a little bit from Vol. 1. My boys seemed to enjoy it. The narrator's voice was pretty monotone. Another quick resource might be Short Lessons in U.S. History. I'm not familiar with the history channel dvd, so can't give you an opinion of how well it would satisfy.
Guest
Why not use the second volume of All American History in conjunction with your other history? So one day AAH, one day MOH?
Chris in VA
If you don't mind World History integrated, The Complete Idiot's Guide to the 20th Century is easy to read and interesting. TOG uses it for their 20th c. Year 4. You could read thru it (the first few chapters review the latter half of the 19th c, I believe) and add in some good lit and some projects if you want. Princess Peach
Why not use the second volume of All American History in conjunction with your other history? So one day AAH, one day MOH? I was going to suggest this, as well. My oldest DS is using it and likes it, and he's not really "into" history, so that's saying something. wy_kid_wrangler04
Why not use the second volume of All American History in conjunction with your other history? So one day AAH, one day MOH? She absolutely hated All American History. Broke my heart because I loved it!! I read the lessons before her and I thought it was great!! I wish she could see some of the teachers I had in High School to appreciate it I guess  Remember Mr. Dewey from Saved By The Bell?? Yup, I had one like him. He was the history teacher and taught all the history in high school until my 11th grade year . Then they got 2 more teachers. Anyways. I didn't want to fight with her though the 2nd book. I will check that out!! I would LOVE to continue with MOH but I have no clue when 4 is supposed to be done :glare: I was hoping when we started 1 that would be enough time to get 4 done. We have been doing the cycle with her so maybe this will fit in nicely!! Does it do a good job covering American History?
