MelissaMinNC
Yay! I was a little  that Speed! didn't come with any instructions whatsoever, but I was able to find the nifty video explaining how to play, so it's all good. Played a couple hands with dd - fun! Started playing with the c-rods with all the kids. (Okay, the 2yo was dumping them out and putting them back into the tub...) I had 9yo and 6yo both make "stairs" and then did the "behind your back" trick that I saw here a few days ago - I was shocked how well and how quickly they caught on to this. I was having a terrible time remembering which rods I was holding behind my back or which was bigger or smaller, etc. Later, I showed ds different ways to make 10 - he caught on very quickly to this too. I was just thinking of 2-block combos (7+3, for ex), but he quickly showed me, "no, you can use a 3 and a 2 and a 5" (except he told me the colors not the numbers - I still can't remember the colors; I better practice!). I was impressed. Anyway - thanks for the recommendations, everyone!
my2boysteacher
I missed the post you are referring to. What is Speed? Do you have a link? I'm always looking for more C-rod ideas!
MelissaMinNC
Sorry, Speed is not related to the C-Rods. It's a card game to facilitate skip-counting/multiplication facts. I got it much more for my 10 yo who is slooooow with her multiplication facts. The C-Rods I got because I wanted to start using them with my 6yo mostly (but my 10 yo will benefit too, I think), before I get Miquon, which I have to wait for next month for. :) Anyway, here's Speed! :001_smile:

Halcyon
We love Speed here, but ours came with a small instruction booklet, inside the box. Maybe it's on the bottom? Anyway, it's easy to learn! We play it every day.
