AimeeM
My friend wants to immediately withdraw her special needs daughter from school in Wilmington. I'm on the HSLDA site and it looks like all she needs to do is fill out an electronic intent form and fax a copy of her diploma... and that's it? How soon can she take her daughter out? foxbridgeacademy
Tomorrow. If she wants to avoid any flack from Admin at school have her write a letter/email and also call principal to let them know. She doesn't have to do this but it might make things easier. pdalley
We pulled our special needs boys out in April of 2007. Same school system. I did show them my orange card but I don't think it's required to withdraw them. I did write a letter of 'official' notice. I did join HSDLA just to be safe. She could call NCDNPE and find out how soon she could officially withdrawn her and find out how long before she can get 'proof' she registered. We didn't wait. I had sent ours registered mail and that was before the online portion got up and running. PM me if she needs some help. Been there, done that. Got the t-shirt.:tongue_smilie: Edited November 7, 2011 by pdalley

Has she joined HSLDA? IMHO, she should do that first, especially since she has a special-needs child. Public schools hate to let special-needs children go.:glare: She does not need to file electronically; in fact, she doesn't need to use DNPE's form at all. But she may if she wishes. If she files electronically, she doesn't need to create an on-line profile. Those are DNPE's new policies, but they do not reflect state law and so are not mandatory. It might be better for her to mail her NOI and copy of her diploma, with a signed return receipt. Then she has proof that she did it. Her dd's school may give her less grief if she has proof that she has complied with the law.
AimeeM
I've heard that HSLDA can be difficult to deal with if you aren't Christian. My friend is Agnostic... honestly, more Atheist.
