pooh bear
I am looking for some non-fiction books on the Civil War. I would want my ds, 11, to read these, but I don't mind recommendations for adult books, I can always pre-read them.
Annie Laurie
Lincoln: A Photobiography is very good and suitable for that age.
mcconnellboys
We own this book and like it, too. I also like Marrin's biography on Lincoln and the Civil War. The Boys' War, Jim Murphy, is another good one (boys who fought on both sides talk about what it was like).... Fields of Fury, James McPherson, is another good one.... Alte Veste Academy
Two Miserable Presidents by Steve Sheinkin It was our favorite for the period. I can't recommend it highly enough. Also, the hardcover is on bargain book price. Be sure to follow up with his Which Way to the Wild West. :D
