Comfortable shoes that are not ugly?

Recommended Posts

I really like my Keen sneakers. And I like my Clark's, but you should note that the sizes run *really* strange in Clark's. I wear a size 8 in everything and I tried on some little mary janes there and was like, eh, not right. Then the salesman said, hold on, and he brings me a size 7 wide. What? But they totally fit. I don't have wide feet at all, but it worked.

I tend to like Dansko, ecco and Born. For dressy shoes I like Ann Taylor, J Crew and Cole Haan.

The key is to try them on and really walk around the store. If they are not comfortable out of the box they will not be more comfortable after 8 hours of wearing them.

I have a pair of Naot mary janes that are incredibly comfortable. I've always wanted to like the Dansko clogs, but I just find them ugly on my feet. I recently tried Ariat clogs - specifically I have the Dawsons. I am in love. They are everything I'd always hoped the Dansko clog would be but wasn't.

Love my Danskos, too, although I feel like such a cliche when I wear them (which is all the time).

My favorite pair of sandals ever were Naot, but my foot seems to have gotten wider over time and they don't have wide sizes. Sob.

Munro is also great for wides, although $$$.

 A cliche of what? I bought a pair of Danskos, but they caused a blister when I wore them on Halloween night. I think they just need to be broken in, maybe? (I am the eternal optimist when it comes to shoes. "It's only a flesh wound!")

Well, they are pricey, but I recently discovered the Ecco shoe brand and they are amazing. From the first moment I put them on, they are comfortable. I've never spent so much on shoes though. I got a pair on sale, which helped a little.

I have a friend who bought some cute Ecco's several years ago - she says they are so comfortable, and still look new, so for her they were well worth the price (roughly $75).

I bought some Clarks at a thrift store, and am wearing them now - super comfortable. I also bought some Clark's mules at "Marty and Liz" for about $15 - also very very comfortable! If you have a Marty and Liz in your area, definitely check them out.
