threeturn
We painted our Halloween pumpkins with washable paints. Now instead of them going to waste I was wondering if I could cook and puree them. I was going to half them, roast them, and scoop out the insides. What do you think? Thanks, Pam
myfunnybunch
If it's washable paint, I'd just wash the paint off first. If the paint won't come off, I'd cut the rind off the pumpkin, cut the flesh into cubes, toss in a little olive oil and roast that way. (Same temp, shoter baking time, puree just as you'd do for a whole roasted pumpkin.) Cat
Sun
:iagree: I wouldn't cook the paint. I'd be afraid that it would give off toxic fumes. Since paint isn't normally cooked, I'd wonder if it could be non-toxic for normal use but be toxic when heated.
threeturn
Thanks guys. Fortunately the paint easily washed off during our pumpkin floating science experiment today (we are really getting our money's worth from these pumpkins). They are perfectly clean, so I think I will give cooking a try.
